View Full Version : Favourite Driving Songs?

This is definitely related to driving an F6B, so I posted it in "General".

What are one or two of your favourite driving songs while riding your bike?

Mine are:

1) guaranteed to put an ear to ear grin on my face while just cruising, Jessica, by the Allman Brothers

2) to induce throttle twisting and stupid driving, Stayed Awake All Night, by Krokus

Post yours to help make a great list.

Great List...you could make a nice playlist out of of these recommendations. With one addition: High Hopes by Springsteen - just make sure there are no LEO's around because it WILL make you twist the throttle

So far I know and like most of the songs listed above so I decided to look at my play list and enter the first ten songs (alphabetically) That I tend to turn up while riding. Sorry but I couldn't get past the "B's" before filling my list, I know superman is not in order but it shows up before the A's for reasons not worth explaining.

Superman The kinks
Time Zones Widespread panic
If I had a rocket Launcher Bruce Cockburn
A Gallon of Gas The Kinks
All the time in the world The Subdudes
Assholes on parade Timbuk 3
Back Stabbers The O'Jays
Bloody well Right Supertramp
Blow at high dough The Tragically Hip
Box of Rain Grateful dead

I have created a few Playlists on my iPod such as: Cool, Heavy, Indie and one called GWF6B. This last one has a mix of Pixies, Foo Fighters, L7, Kings of Leon, Black Francis and a cool song from Webb Wilder; Human Cannonball (check it out). I will definitely check some mentioned by you guys, a couple of band that I am not familiar with. Thanks ! :039:

Seen ACDC in a Pub/Hotel/Club back in 1974 in Adelaide Australia
A mate of mine, a Dog handler who was once in my section in the Army went to School with one of the Young Brothers
So off we went
Back in the days of a bit of this and a bit of that
So this bloke staggers on stage, throws a bottle into the corner
Grabs the mike
Rips his shirt open and Bon Scott starts to sing
And the rest is history :icon_cool:

If I could find a place that plays that kinda of music, I'd be back in shape in weeks...no gym required when you dance like that a few nights a week....
I miss that.

I also agree with the Rob Zombie choice. Some heavy tunes. Do a search on I-Tunes for songs from the Sons of Anarchy TV series and you'll find a bunch of great songs IMO.

Many great ones have already been mentioned.
A couple I'd add:

Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger - great driving beat.

Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner - classical, big sound, you'll remember it from the excerpts that were used during a dawn chopper attack scene in Apocalypse Now.

Being an Aussie you can't go past anything from AC/DC. Particuarly Shoot to Thrill and Thunderstruck. Just yesterday I was out riding with the stereo cranked up with 'Shoot to Thrill' playing. There were a couple of young lads further up the road collecting firewood, they heard me coming and as I went past they were headbanging in tune. Was one of them cool moments when your riding and everything is just perfect.

Some of my favorites are:

Supertramp "Take the long way home"
The Cars " Let the good times roll"
Billy Idol " Mony Mony"
Billy Idol " White wedding"
Van Halen " Runnin with the devil"
Huey Lewis " I want a new drug"

These three I can only use on the open highways as they can cause me to receive "performance awards" from the men in blue.

Steppenwolf " Magic carpet ride"
ZZ Top " La Grange"
ZZ Top " Tush"

And when rolling off said highways into small towns, speed traps, or school zones, crank this one into your headset.

Pink Floyd " Comfortably Numb" ( disclaimer: you may find yourself sitting at stop signs and traffic signals for extended periods of time" ) thus possibly receiving an "under-performing" award from the men in blue.
