9mm high capacity with hollow points is a good carrying weapon. A .40 cal with the same accoutrements listed above works well too. Next for me will be a 1911 .45.....I've always wanted a 1911.

I have a soft spot for 3 inch 1911s. I carry a Kimber Super Carry in an Alessi ankle holster quite a bit on the weekend. During the week I carry a Springfield XDs in a DeSantis pocket holster. That's usually what I carry on the bike also.

I can't carry a gun.
But i do carry a Victorinox (Swiss Army style) multi task pocket knife.
I use it if I have to cut my fishing line in case of a snag.

I've carried a gun of one sort or the other for more than 50 years. I'm yet to discover the perfect carry gun. I've got everything from a Dirty Harry .44 mag to a NAA .22, but none are THE gun.

My usual carry is a DiamondBack .380 in a pocket holster, but that's because it gets hot in Florida. When possible I carry either a Glock 36 (.45 single stack) or S&W J frame, usually in a Galco shoulder holster. Of course, this requires a cover garment.

As I get older I get lazier (it's possible) so I don't always carry what I know I should.

I have a small collection but a couple of my favs are the Sig P228 (9mm) or Sig P238 (.380). As others have mentioned, it's a huge responsibility to carry that, IMHO, requires considerable training and discipline.

Seems to be. Especially for the yuppies. They make 9mm as small as most 380s these days. Ammo development has helped the 380 tremendously. I carry a 45. That's cause they don't make a 46.shot his footshot his foot

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. My Diamondback is similar to all 4 of those. Not pleasant to shoot, but easy to carry.

Depends on the weather, and what I'm wearing
Bersa thunder.380- don't really like this but it's small, and better than nothing
Sig P250Compact 9mm, nice all around cary
Sig p228 .40 for the cold days.
Ruger LCP, for the days when I ride with flip flops and shorts.... ( run to the store)

All have http://clipdraw.com/ clips, which keep the imprinting down. can't do wrong for about $20 bucks.

Ruger LC9 for low viz mode .... Nice sized 9mm, easy to shoot.

Browning high-power for everyday.

I have had Glocks, Sigs, etc .... But after 30+ years I can honestly say nothing beats a High-Power.

My favorite is a Kahr PM9 in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster with Gold Dot's. Small enough I don't notice it's there, reliable, and it has more shots and easier to reload than the 642 Airweight that was my previous favorite.

Steve my opinion of you just went up. If you can carry that big hunk of iron all day then you are a much better man than me. Personally something in the 25 oz range us much more comfortable. A S&W 340 PD 357 magnum only weighs 12oz.

Not true, In some states knife laws are more strict than others. There is no national law on possession of knives (other than some obscure law regarding manufacture and transportation of switch blade knives across state lines).

The laws of your state may preclude the possession of such a knife, but I'd bet real money those states are in the minority.

Kahr P380 in the pocket or inside the waist band or a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 inside the waistband.

In the pocket, the Kahr rides in a one-sided Recluse holster. Fantastic holster. In the waist band, it rides in a Crossbreed MiniTuck. The M&P .40 rides in a StealthGear Onyx. The StealthGear is quite innovative in the materials used and is worth checking out for those carrying inside the waist band. I also have Sneaky Petes's for both guns. What I carry depends mostly on how I'm dressed. Why do I ALWAYS carry? Because these days, you just never know.

Dang that works good don't it Mike. As much as I like a 1911 that little XDs has been riding in that DeSantis pocket holster for two years. Longest I've ever carried one particular way. Sometimes on the weekend I will deviate but at work it is truly concealed.

I carried a Glock 17 for years... and when on a SWAT call out carried a MP 5 just for company !!! Weight is a non issue...funny thing...I bought a pair of suspenders the other day and immediately reminded me of a shoulder holster !!!

Not an expert like some
But did beat Australian Olympic Gold Medalist Russel Marks in Shotgun once
And can double pop close on 30 feet from the draw with cals up to .45
But if I had to carry, I'd carry a 22Lr semi auto loaded with Aguila Super Maximum Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 30 Grain Hyper Velocity bullets (1700Fps) and have 6 mags in the pocket.
Pierces Kevlar unlike .38' and 45's and is no where as heavy and awkward, and strapped to the leg with the bottom of the pocket cut out (Baggy Pants) is truly concealable.
But if I knew what I was talking about I'd probably chose a 1911 in .45 :icon_cool:

Anyone get a chance to get their hands on the new G43?
The barrel is just a tad shorter than the G26, but always thought a single stack 9 would be easier to carry than a double stack.

Its a little off topic but related. Google 'Jerry Miculek 12 shots in under 3 seconds'. Smith and Wesson revolver king Jerry Miculek , using a S&W 625 revolver fires six shots , ON TARGET , reloads , fires six more , ON TARGET , in under three seconds. I thinkhands down the greatest shooting I have ever seen. Met Jerry a couple times. Regular guy and great to talk to.
