So Jovi and I were invited to the GWRRA meeting about a week ago. After driving in circles we found the place in the corner of a strip mall. We were welcomed and everyone was friendly. However, after looking around I starting noticing mostly everyone was wear WWII hats and it looked like Jovi and I were the only ones there that still worked:yikes:. Well after dinner one of the guys starting asking me about the F6B, he called it the "Sport Model". So there you have it the full Wingers call us the Sport Model Goldwingers. So be it, don't think Jovi and I are ready for this group yet!

I have been telling everyone, as they are looking at it in dismay, that's its a Goldwing, Less the Trunk. So there you have it, a Goldwing LT :clap2:

Likewise with my local GWRRA. I was by far the youngest one attending. They talked for 20 minutes about proper lane changes. Really took all the fun out of riding IMHO. GWRRA is a great group just not for me.

I like that "Cycle World" (at least I think it was "Cycle World") created a whole new class of bikes for the F6B - "heavy cruiser."
Navy abbreviation for cruiser is "CG."
And since air traffic control always adds "heavy" to the callsigns for aircraft that are 747 & up, I have been using "CG Heavy" as an answer as well.
Fun to play with peoples' minds....

I like that TK. I may have to get a couple little chrome GTs off a 'Stang' and see how they look on 'Shay Shay'.

I can live with being called a Sport Model; better than being called a big scooter :icon_biggrin:

Some friends from the VRCC like to tell me it looks like a Cushman scooter from the rear.:icon_lol: They're teasing of course.

I Just tell people that F6B stands for Flat Six Bagger. Even the salesman at the local dealer said he hadn't heard that but that it made sense...

Perhaps a better question would be what have you done with your flat engine and shaft drive? When the first one hit the pavement, riders started out adding a wind shield and the Gold Wing farkel movement was born. The Gold Wing produced yesterday still has a flat engine and a shaft drive and came with many farkels. So The basic Gold Wing has not changed just the farcel arrangement to include adding a third wheel making it a Gold Wing F6B trike.

On displayed F6B would be very difficult to scratch your pants . But knowing already Terry's abilities , it's possible he could do it so easy .

I tell people it's a Goldwing 'fastback", a stripped down performance version.

I remember looking at an early model. I think it was the Interstate. I remember an inline engine. Not flat. Someone help me out with my bad memory.

The first Gold Wings were flat four 1000 cc.http://www.cycleworld.com/2015/03/12/40-years-of-honda-gold-wing-touring-motorcycles-history/?cmpid=enews031915&spPodID=030&spMailingID=22318619&spUserID=NzM4NjMwOTg0NDcS1&spJobID=522015236&spReportId=NTIyMDE1MjM2S0

You might be thinking of the CB750 and CB900 custom with Honda Line Accessories.

The first GoldWing was in 1975. It was the GL1000.
From memory it was powered by a 1000cc horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine
It was promoted as a Sports Bike, cross country deal
12503
The big bikes at the time were Harleys, Honda 4's, Kwaka 900, the water cooled Suzuki and a Ducati or two and the Yammy 750 triple.

You could find Clear windshields for em and some fiberglass saddlebags but it wasn't for maybe 5 years later that they came out with all the gear
Their were two models both 1100's, one the Interstate that had all the gear and the other still stripped down but with the kool seat:icon_cool:

Thanks guys. I knew it wasn't the CB. I don't remember what year (too many bikes in between) but I owned a CB 750 Custom. Sold it in the fall of 1985 just before my son was born. It was burgundy black and gold with the Dunlop white letter tires and 5 spoke mag wheels. Most bikes had wire spoke back then. Wish I had taken more pictures.

At the time a guy had a Wing with 100k on the odometer that he would sell me for $1,000---remember this is mid 80's money. I knew the service manager at the local dealership and was going to buy it until he told me that the guy had brought it in for repairs and it had serious engine problems he was not disclosing. The more I think on it, it was a flat engine. It was the ugly brown. Can't remember if it had bags and shield. You guys are exercising parts of my brain that have been dormant for decades.

Well I had a 81 Silver Wing Interstate at 16 in 85. Iwas assuming he was talking about the Gold Wing Interstate. Actually there have been several Hondas to have the name Interstate. Valkyrie Interstate

One of my friends stood up as we started a ride to tell us how many seconds gap to keep between bikes, and how to calculate that. Ugh. I prefer riding with my brother. We just climb aboard our bikes and haul a$%.
