Wow! Congratulations, trip of a lifetime right there! I've been to many of those locations, but only 2 or 3 of them I was on a bike, and never on one trip. Take loads of pictures and give us the run-down when you return. Ride safe!

You're going to be in Orlando and not make the trip to Key West? Take an extra 3-4 days and go to the Conch Republic. I've been to many of the places you're going and Key West is near the top of my list.

I recognize that trip. It was computer generated to take the most efficient route and cover every state in the lower 48.
How much time do you plan on taking for such a trip? Are you doing it just to say you did it or are you planning on deviating from it along the way to check out points of interest not on the route?
This summer I turn 68 and retired since 58. Each year I take one to two months and take off alone on my bike to see what's out there.
I have circled the USA twice following the coast, run down east and taken the ferry out to Newfoundland and this June I head to New England and then down the east coast to the Florida Keys and then back home of course. I take tons of photos but haven't posted any yet.
Fortunately I have lots of energy and good health so there's nothing to hold me back.
Have a great traveling experience and I look forward to hearing more about your adventure.

Am I missing something? North Dakota and West Virginia are left out.

You're right, but I've been there before... 5 hrs from Miami? Kind of a big one-way detour...

Did someone mention North Dakota?
I'm 90 minutes from North Dakota.
If someone's going to ND, I'll drive down and meet you.
But I won't be carrying. :stirthepot:

I'm sure there will be lots of changes and detours along the way...

Have a great traveling experience and I look forward to hearing more about your adventure.

Thanks!

Great trip! I'm only 70 miles NW of Minneapolis. Let me know when you're nearing the area...breakfast, lunch or supper is on me.

Most efficient 48 state trip is about 8600 miles.. Check out the IBA they have a 48 state in 10 day ride.

Should be a great trip but of course you do realize that your dollar is worth 25% more if you cross the border and visit Canada.

Hey motoman, have a great journey. All the best my friend. Are you starting out East or South?

What would be cool if you are so inclined, would be to start a journal thread of your trip and post often to keep us updated.

Nothing on a trip like this could be considered a "big one-way detour." I'm jealous!
One thing you will experience on the short jaunt from Toledo to Detroit is that once you cross into Michigan, the roads change drastically, and you will have to pay close attention to your fork seals, Michigan roads are the worst in the country, then once you near Detroit you won't know if your on a freeway or a gravel road. There is about a 4-mile stretch that was done two years ago, enjoy that section!
Too bad you couldn't experience the real Michigan, that's the Upper Peninsula.
