I am new to the forum and I am not sure if this has been discussed before. I was wondering how and where to mount a Garmin gps on my F6B.

Thank you

Lot's of Opinions on this one. I put my gps on the dash infant of the Tach. 2 Reasons up high to see blocked by screen for protection from the elements since it's not a Zumo.

Lots of options, G.

I drilled a hole in my handlebar and use the RAM-B-309-3U (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KOEY5O4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) ball\stud and the RAM-B-103-C-238U (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AHXPMP8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) double socket arm.

So far I have just a Zumo gps but I know I will be putting more stuff to look at, the shelf sounds like a better option than the bar, opinions ?

Before I got the Farkle shelf, I had all my electronics RAM-mounted to the bars. It has been so nice to get all that "stuff" off my handlebars. The only problem with the shelf is that it's like a basement in your house...extra room to fill with junk :icon_rolleyes:.

I'm thinking about trying to do something like this:
http://gl1800riders.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=63937&d=1343497051
I would mount it where the badge is instead, but somehow I feel it's sacrilegious to remove it since it's a 40th anniversary badge.

Stick the badge someplace else. There are plenty of nooks and crannies.

This mount puts it in your line of sight, right above the gauges. I like it better than the shelf as I have nothing else to put there and I don't want the dash to look busy. It's removable and a good price.

My new idea: I want to keep a small Garmin gps mounted to my left handlebar to be within easy reach, and I want to add a 7" Android Tablet with this mount right above gauges to see a bigger picture. These devices nowadays are very affordable, and I can use all kinds of maping software, mostly free, without the need for constant wifi or cell service. Mapping can be loaded onto tablet itself. Here's a picture of a 7" Android Tablet on a BMW:

If you have an adjustable Baggershield windshield like I do, here is another way to mount a gps, cell phone, or tablet in your line of sight:

Running power to it should be easy.

I'll be getting mine from Wingstuff.

Remember the lower it is the higher you have to angle it the more the glare. The higher the better in view and less glare.

Thanks. Got my cell phone in a mount in my Helibars that keeps it charged too, but was interested in the product anyhow.

I just ordered mine, too. After I get it I will try to find a 7" Android Tablet that fits the pocket for map display. So far it looks like the Samsung 7" Tab has the best viewing screen in sunlight, but I'll keep researching some more. I really like Garmin software, but their 7" gps looses all the details when zoomed out (does not show local roads). Google maps are better and sections of it can be loaded into a tablet's memory so network is not needed for use. I figured I can download the states I do vast majority of my riding in, such as SC, GA, NC and FL.

Giddy I can't put mine there the windscreen doesn't allow it, especially because the vent is there.:yikes:

But a RAM ball mount could go there? Then use a RAM double socket arm to position your device away from the mechanical interference of the windshield.

I am new to this Forum and just love my 2014 Yellow F6B. 5,000 miles and grinning all the way. Wanted to add a GPS mount, but like many of you wanted something to be centrally mounted in the dash area. Couldn't find what I was looking for, so I made my own. No drilling, mounts on the underside of the upper dash panel with 3M heavy duty emblem tape and lets you see your instruments. Aluminum with a matte black powder coat. The mount also includes a detachable tether that hooks to your GPS so you don't lose it if the vacuum mount lets go.

I thought there might be some demand for this, so I made a bunch of them with 2 different mounting pads - most of them are 65mm which fits the normal Garmin mount, and a few with 80mm which will work for some of the larger Tom Tom mounts. I am selling them for $65.00 including shipping. If you are interested, drop me a line at travelor@mindspring.com or through the forum.
