G'day all, my machine is running what i believe is a standard set of tyres, certainly here in Au, they are Bridgestone Exedra G709 Radial on the front and G704 on the rear.

The bike is coming up to its 12000 km service and i guess i've got about another 5000 km of rubber left on the back, in the past i've been very happy if i can reach 16 0r 17000 km out of a rear tyre. I ride like a geriatric so i guess i extract more than the average from my rubber.

Lately i've read a couple of disturbing (for me) reports from you guys in the US and to the North suggesting the riders have got upto 39-40000 (MILES) from their tyres.

Can this be correct? if it is, I'm coming over to your place to ride.

I would be interested to find out what is a reasonable milage and what is the preferred make of tyres you guys run.

Cheers and keep the rubber bits on the road.

Chris

Totally false!.. Who ever told you that story must have been hitting the bottle...no such thing occurs ... I have gotten 20K out of the front and 15 out of the back....any other figures are someones imagination or trying to start something that has been long put to bed...

Backing up my namesake.....
The way I ride, I am fortunate to get 10,000 to 12000 miles per set. That was for Dunlop Elite IIIs on my 81 Wing and 97 Valk.
Haven't worn out the stock Bridgestones yet on the F6B, but at 7500 miles, they are looking stronger than the Elites did.
I check air pressures weekly.
I do not do a lot of flat highway riding, and here in Pennsylvania, the roads can be pretty crappy.

I believe it can be done, but only if you're an Iron Butt type rider who spends a lot of time going a steady speed.

I got 18,000 miles out of my first set of tires. Not sure how since I ride almost every day and ride hard in and out of traffic. That would be almost 30,000 kilometers.

16,000 to 17,000 km sounds reasonable. I'm also running the Bridgestone Exedra's... at 12,000 miles (19,300 km) my G704 on the rear was worn down the the carcass threads! I obviously ran that tire a wee bit too long.

39,000 to 40,000 miles for a motorcycle tire sounds high... unusually high.

+1 I agree.......those numbers may have been exaggerated. Had experience with Dunlop E3's and never came close to those kinds of miles:shock:

Just saying
