Dramatic Improvement in Shifting/Like a Different Transmission

No kidding, I rode 200 miles today and I could not believe the improvement in shifting, clean, distinct, even hearing nice little clicks. When you can get your foot directly under the shifter it really makes a difference. Yes, I know they look like sport bike Italian kid racer boots; but believe me they really make a difference due to the low profile in the toe area.

I have always felt that much of our transmission problems were due to poor shifting technique...with taller boots it is difficult to get properly under the shifter. These are TCX, XS, waterproof ones that I bought last fall at Cycle Gear in Knoxville on sale for around a $100.00. Plus, believe it or not, they are all day comfortable. I wore them last fall when I worked as a voting machine operator (14 hours on my feet) and they did great. Today was a real test and they made a real difference in comfort and shifting. I think any ones designed like these would also do a good job. Forget how they look--they do the job.

I never have a ghost shift when I preload shifter.
I like boots I wear boots at work but when riding I wear sneakers.

I would have never believed footwear to make a difference if I had not experienced this phenomenon myself.
Yesterday I was working on ""Blackie" (as my grandson named my bike) and was wearing sneakers.
I started it up,put it in gear and moved about 20 feet.
When I went to put it in neutral (running to let it warm up),I could not find neutral for nothing.
It would only go in second or first.
Finally after about 10 tries it went in.
I normally wear boots and have NEVER experienced this.
I believe 100% that footwear because of "feel" makes all the difference in the world.

I have found having only size 8 feet that I have no 'roblem at all.
I also feel that being only 130 pounds my F6B is not aware that I am along for the ride.
The one thing I have to be glade about is the 6 is always going to take me home when

I have bought riding shoes before too, and I can't agree with you more. The problem I have is spending 100+ dollars on a pair of shoes that wear holes in the bottom before I get a scratch on the top. The soles are so thin I go through them in no time.

Try putting your feet on the pegs instead of dragging them on the ground.:joke:
All kidding aside I have a similar Alpinestars boot and have ridden with them for four years. Soles aren't much different today than when they were new.

I ride with Red Wing boots and the soles last forever.(well a long time at least) :icon_biggrin:
The nice thing is you can have new soles put on at their stores relatively inexpensively.
