So the wife and I were at a local dealer to get some new gear. Walking thru their showroom I pointed out a '15 F6B in the matte grey, boy do those look sharp (they also had a set of cobra 6s installed on a black '14. Surprisingly, not sure I actually like the look of them in person). But the wife commented on how much she liked the grey 2015 too! I was pretty shocked because we looked at a Vaquero in flat grey before buying the F6 and she said it looked like a plastic toy. Anyhow, I jokingly said we should trade our '13 black deluxe for the '15. Again to my surprise she didn't immediately object and even brought it up later! Somebody here tell me I'd be crazy and an idiot to trade in our '13 with 5K miles for the '15.

Rule #1: never argue with the wife

... on the other hand, make sure the trade in allowance is what you need to make it worth the transaction.

I'd be asking myself if a paint job(you could choose whatever color you wanted) and a blankety blank electronic speed control :shhh::icon_rolleyes: would be a better deal?

But then I've got quite a bit of extras and time put into mine that adds even more weight to the paint job idea , if I wanted a different color.

You sir, are in the quagmire of the single most elusive attribute in a marriage. The convergence of married minds. You're not crazy at all. It's just that the territory you are in is not familiar to you as it only happens rarely, and not in all marriages.

You had better lay your money down quick, before things are restored to "normal" and you're back to doing chores around the house instead of riding!

Oh, and buy a lotto ticket!

It is only money so they say!!!....But how important is cruise control and a different color to you from a monetary standpoint??..I have read of a couple dealers that have really "low-balled" trades on 2013's as you could buy a leftover new one for $14,000 or so O-T-D...I saw one in a dealer last week and was not that impressed, but to each his own....I had mine custom painted at delivery, a House of Kolors Brandywine Candy Red and love the thing....but do whatever floats your boat...If it were me I would hold off at this late in the year and see what the 2016's have to offer....JMHO

I too was thinking about this same deal. The dealership that I was talking to had a great price on the 2015 deluxe at $17,500, but they would only give me 10K for my 2013 standard. By the time you add on tax, title, tag, etc... to the new one... that's almost 9 grand to get new paint and a cruse control. (I already have the passenger backrest and a center stand on my 2013) A little too rich for my blood, but to each his (or her) own. (Having said that... That matte silver is really nice  )

My way of thinking is you are sucking up the depreciation of both bikes purchased.. not good...
If the trade in value were really good, then a bit more fiscally palatable.
Now, what I'd really do is get it if you want it..

If they could work a deal and keep it at around the same payment, I'd do it!

I just brought home my brand Black 2013 today. My son thats 25 says it looks like a cross between a giant scooter and a snowmobile. My wife doesn't know what to think, she thinks it looks really futuristic. Now remember I rode Harleys for 20 years before this bike. This bike is fast, smooth and the most comfortable bike I have ever rode, and I only rode it a 1/2 hour today before it started to rain.

You would be an idiot to make that deal and lose all that money. Then again that's what I did a few months ago:icon_rolleyes:

Well, the gray colored one is faster :thumb: other than that, no difference from what you already have. :icon_cool:

That could be a ploy, if you go ahead with the purchase how do you say no to her kitchen renovation plans? Call me a skeptic but I've been down this road being married three times. A boat cost me a kitchen and a bathroom, they stare at you and say in a pouty face "But you bought a new bike.". It's a corner we paint ourselves into, heads up. :icon_doh:

I'd say go for it, then again your talking to a guy that's already done exactly what you did. In the past 3 years I've had a Victory Vision, M109R, 2 ZX14R's, CB1000R, VFR (that's a lotta R's), VROD and Finally my current stable of a Goldwing, 40th Anniversary F6B and the new Valkyrie.

So yeah who cares, do it. If you can afford it, it won't break you financially, you like and it and want it and you get a good deal then do it. Who cares it's your hard earned money that's why you earn it, otherwise why bother?

Sorry. Can't tell you that it is crazy. You only live once.

YOUR CRAZY!!!!! Haha hey you wanted to hear it!! But seriously if you want it and can afford to take a financial hit then do it. Just remeber in about 2-3months the floor will fall out from under that 15 also. If it was me I wouldn't trade my 13 for a 15 just cause of color and cruise but your talking to a guy who is prob gonna go back to a road glide after this summer. So now it's your turn to call me crazy!!! I know I'm crazy lol so says my dr!! Elroy life is too short and ya never know when it's your time so you do whatever makes YOU happy

I am making several assumptions about the type of guy who buys an F6B. I will just say that when I go into my local Honda dealer, there is nothing in that showroom I want. I bought my '13 because it was stripped down, raw fun. Color and cruise control does nothing to improve that purity of fun. Loosing money to get the same thing I already have would sour the trade for me. Save the 10K for the better performing F6B mark2 or 3.

Yup. that IS crazy. :yikes: Going to a slower, uglier, worse handling belly button bike. But life is short! Its your ride.

Hahah thanks for everyone's replies! I enjoyed reading all of them! I will most likely yield to my slightly more sensible side and just keep what we got....for now. Might looking into paint jobs, but I've no clue where to start looking. Again, thanks for the responses, we're a humorous lot! My wife DID just get all new flooring and walls painted, though...:icon_wink:

I can easily see the 2015 40th Anniversary Editions quite easily being the last of this "style."

As many have stated, I agree that Honda needs to do a bit more to "keep up with the Joneses."

I see their ad campaign as "The First 40 Years of GoldWing are finished....Here's to the next 40...!"
and then rolling out something REALLY super duper. At least if I was marketing director, that's what would happen.
They may try for 50 years....but I hope not.
"This is not your grandpa's GoldWing."

There are enough "Gen 2" bikes to keep the aftermarket happy and I hope that the 2016s are just simply amazing.
So, yeah, I wouldn't layout any cash right now.....
