so in reading a thread: http://hondaf6b.com/showthread.php?6512-Softening-rear-shock

I wondered what is abuse of a bike? What would mother honda say?

My post:
I have a rr crossing by the house, it's just far enough to hit it at the top of 2nd gear. I have to smile when i launch off it. this is just way too fun.
i am concerned that some honda rep will read all my posts and gig me for abuse after reading about wheelstands, burnouts, 1/8 mile drag runs and launching over railroad tracks. ahh, screw it. ride it like you stole it.

Full disclosure I am not easy on bikes, on my harley I snapped a FLHT swingarm, and primary chain, rear belts and screwed up steering bearings. so far nothing broke on the "young mans goldwing"

It's not addressed in the owners manual. In my mind I determine how I drive the bike.

Though I'm guilty of it myself, I think a bike sitting for long periods of time is harder on it than driving it hard. :icon_wink:

True abuse is just leaving it parked in the garage.

True abuse is just leaving it parked in the garage.

Or hauling it on a trailer. :icon_frown:

I think you can ride your bike as hard as you want, change the oil when coming back from the mountains from all the engine braking, take it easy on the trans, easy on slipping the clutch, keep it clean and inspect while cleaning...all should be OK

I agree with Doug. I ride my bikes hard but I do the maintenance and make sure they get premium lubricants. I also keep them ultra clean.

Locking the Harley in the garage while I make it watch me post on the f6b forum. I'm getting counseling.
