Not quite as dark as I thought the medium gray would be. But I did want to be able to see through it at night, so I can't complain. I got the sport tour medium light gray with adjustable vent and recurve. I can't see how someone would wait as long as I did, put it on with all the protective plastic, then send it back because it wasn't "perfect". That's a few months a waiting for a windshield that is obviously better than that oem shorty. I haven't quite got the rubber grommets in behind the mirrors to my liking and stopped since those last two bolts are a pita and I'm sweating bullets..... to be continued.

I received my Clearview windshield yesterday and installed it yesterday. I purchased the same as you. I do agree I was expecting a darker tint. Mine came perfect I have no complaints. Yes I do not see how anyone could ride any length of time with the stock windshield it is night and day difference.

my only complaint would be the two areas on each side of my windshield that the black film has rubbed off15467 I have one of those on both side of my Clearview

If I spent my hard earned money on it, and had to wait months for it, it better damn well be perfect or it's going back. JMHO

It is ridiculous in this day and age that anyone should have to wait for a windshield.
These should be on the shelf ready to be sent out.
I did not order from Clearview because of an experience I had with them years ago.
I bought a F4 and am ecstatic.

Yea, I waited quite a while and was emailed through different "stages" of it. Kind of weird IMO. I guess they're a really small company or they do quite a bit of work. Here's a pic in the garage. I don't ride much as I broke my tailbone a month or so before I bought the bike. Probably not one of my brightest ideas. Heading out on our first weekend ride next weekend. Probably headed to Fancy Gap VA, then off for a parkway ride towards Boone.

BTW- what's a good Samsung S5 holder to attach to my left handlebar so I have the ability to use my GPS?

For those last two bolts be sure and stuff a shop towel in the cavity below so if you drop the nut or washer it will not go into the black hole never to be found again !

Thanks, that's the tip I was looking for! I remember reading about installing shields, but couldn't remember the trick for that. That's definitely a highly probable situation!

Went for a ride yesterday and so far, I love this shield! I can actually ride with my visor mostly up. I may lower the shield a tad as that line across the top seems to frustrate my "view" in certain situations. Talk about hearing the radio better too. The adjustable vent directs air right at my torso, love that too.

Redlinez, how tall are you?

I ordered the same windshield that you have. I'm 5' 10" and went through all of the measurements that Clearview had on their website for determining proper height. I think the medium sport tourer is fine for me; but am concerned if there is any distortion from the recurved portion itself.

I have the same one you ordered and I am 5'11" I look over the shield by about 6" so the recurve isn't really a issue.

I'm 5'11". I just lowered the shield to the halfway adjustmentment point I had it as high as it would go. I'll take a ride and see where it ends up in my line of sight.

I figured I'd baby step it and see what it's like tomorrow. I'm riding to work, then headed home to pick her up and head to Fancy Gap.

I ordered my F4 Customs 14" med tint with vent windshield and it was at my house in 2 days. I love this windshield but then I tried the Madstad 11" extra dark. I now love this windshield. I may have to put the F4 Customs back on in the winter for more protection (only time will tell).

I had the Clearview Med Dark tint on my Harley Davidson Fatboy and loved it. It did take 6 weeks or more to get to my house. When I wrecked the Harley the Clearview broke into very sharp shards that I did not like so I switched when I got the windshield for the F6B. I did not get cut up to bad but the potential was there.

Question:

For those of you that bought a Clearview windshield with a vent installed; is the outer portion of the vent fabricated out of smoke colored plastic as well; if you have a tinted windshield?

My new Clearview windshield is light tinted, and the rear portion of the vent is smoke colored plastic. But the front portion is clear plastic. Looks weird. I would think that both pieces of the vent would be smoke colored?

Yes, I plan on going to the Rally in Franklin; as long as Erika (the tropical storm) dissipates somewhat.

I had received an email from Clearview this morning; they did say that what I received is what they are producing; a clear type front vent and a smoked rear louver vent body that attached to it.

...and I am getting good with manipulating those two bolts; that hold the front fascia panel over the windshield. Twice now; I've disassembled it to play with the height of the windshield. Currently I have it on it's highest setting; and will take the bike out for a spin to check the effect of turbulence and me head. :icon_wink:

Glad to hear all this as i'm currently waiting for my Clearview shield. I had placed an order for my Kawasaki Vaquero and got lucky they had not started making it yet and was able to change the order to a F6B shield. I got the "large/wide/light tint with a vent" option.

I love my Clearview! if you follow the MFG's. instructions you can try out what you think you want and send it back if it is not exactly right. If I should ever need another there will be no question where I will go for a replacement.
