I wonder who did that, I was talking to Brad Niehaus (Niehaus Cycles) about swapping around a stock wing to F6B as he can't seem to let himself sell a stock wing ever

I would have painted the Black portions of the tupperware silver, it would have complimented the chrome in my opinion.

Love the CHROME Wheels

LOL, it was probably silver before he changed it to black.

The black fairing side panel is from an F6B, not an 1800. The vent shape is different.
I like it.

Perhaps with the GL1800 side panels, the F6B side panels have always been Black.
There is a difference in design and the side panels on this bike are original F6B panels, so I don't believe these were ever painted silver at one time.

Oooops, didn't read Trike Lady's response …. yes what she said

Yep, I noticed that. That is why I said changed rather than painted.. I also think the black F6B panel is a better design but, in my opinion, it looks a little out of place on this chromed/blue converted Wing. JMHO.:shhh:

Schroaders Honda did the work. My bike is slated next. I was happy they used their bike for the guinea pig. There was a few issues, but nothing that hopefully can't be overcome. The biggest issue is the radio box. There is no part number for it and apparently none in the states. I think the dealership contacted mother Honda in Japan for help. That bike used a borrowed radio box from a F6B. I am just waiting for dollar numbers to commit to this conversion. Casey at Schroaders is my contact.

Sorry,

Ilike the stealth look of a real F6B. That will always be a fake.

The radio box is just a waterproof square plastic box almost any enclosure around the same size will work mounting is really nothing special, worst case we have a aluminum tank shop next to our shop they could make a substitute really easy.

I would be interested to see the parts list for the conversion

All you need is a 2012 or 2013 Goldwing.

The parts are listed and shown in the F6B and Goldwing (2012and 2013) parts catalogs.

I downloaded and printed the needed pages for the conversion from Honda's web site in April.

1) 2013 Honda GL1800B2 Seat

2)2012 & 2013 Honda Seat

3) 2013 Honda GL1800B2 Rear Fender

4) 2012 & 2013 GL1800 Rear Fender

5) 2013 GL1800B2 Saddlebag

6) 2012 & 2013 GL1800 Saddlebag

7) 2013 Honda GL1800B2 Cowl

8) 2012 &2013 Honda Cowl

9) 2012 & 2013 Honda GL1800 Trunk Box

Under these listings you will find all the MAJOR parts you will need to covert.
You will see how they each have the same part numbers for any thing needed to be mounted.

Just add paint and labor.

These parts have been available sense April.

Tony I told to then it could be done AND it would be ... But some one beat me to doing it.

I am guessing your talking converting a prior 2012 bike I was talking 2012+ you should not need half the stuff for example I think the saddlebags are the same certainly parts I had painted came off a stock bike and fit my F6 and also the fender etc is the same.

Hence I was asking for the list he gets quoted for so we can see what is really involved

You're right Pedro66.

Some people just need reference points to go by. To compare the similarities of each model / year. Prices are shown for each part.

No, I said a 2012 or a 2013 conversion nothing earlier.

Pedro66 if Casey at Schroader's Honda is a good business man ... He will have one of these at WONC. And have it beside YOUR booth.

Not sure I understand why anyone would go through the expense to do this. The only real change to the original wing is appearance. If I wanted ABS, Reverse and Cruise (and I debated those issues when I was buying) I would have just bought the full wing. Guess lots of people got more money to burn than I do.

I love the looks of the F6B, but refuse to give up touring capabilities of the Wing. This conversion will satisfy me on both accounts. The Wing conversion bike will be at the North Carolina Wing event.

Hi, folks,

I currently ride a KLR 650 and am somewhat active over on the LDRider list.

I'm contemplating picking up a somewhat older Wing (2004-2009 maybe) and doing the conversion to as close to an F6B as possible. How feasible would that be? No interest in doing it to a newer bike. (Looking to keep cost down.)

One of our members has converted a 2012 Wing and it looks very similar to the above images, hopefully he'll see this post. I think he's in Virginia.

I had a 2014 Wing (Black, ABS) converted to an F6B in April of 2014 at Schroaders Honda and I think it was around $4200.00. Rather pricey I thought but I'm too old to ride to California without cruise control and I really like the idea of ABS. Got 11,300 miles on it so far and it's not an F6B, but it's damn close! The advantage to the 2014 is the blacked out wheels, etc. if you got the black bike. :icon_biggrin:

ANOTHER ONE - '13 GL 1800 audio comfort / F6B conversion from Unity,Maine.

"The best of both worlds"! All the Goldwing features (reverse, cruise control, adjustable windshield, remote power adjust suspension, CB and intercom ready, and heated grips and seat. The conversion was completed by a Honda dealer using genuine Honda parts painted to match. Other significant upgrades include: Traxxion suspension front and rear, Corbin heated seat, Heli adjustable handlebars, Bushtec trailer hitch ( older bushtec trailer included in asking price), F4 -2" and stock windshields, fog lights, front fender extender, and bag liners. Included also is transferable Honda extended warranty to 2020 with unlimited miles. The bike is better than new with a clear title and only 6200 miles. Everything listed adds up to over 30K!! $18,500.00

Very nice, practical and original. Hats off to the owners for taking on the challenge. I'd really like to know how these handle and what the weight is compared to the f6b.
