Who make a decent set that don't look tacky? I don't want chrome and the few I have seen just look bad when they get some age on them or they are cut in such a way that they don't blend in with the lines of the bike.

Thanks for the link, never seen this style before. Really like the fact that they offer 3 thickness styles, looking into them.

I have run the techspec snakeskin on several bikes, holds up really good, doesnt fade or come loose.

I've had the Techspec pads on my bike for a few months. I read somewhere that they can be removed and reapplied. That is one of the reasons I chose them. I didn't want to take a chance on ruining the paint if I ever decide to take them off.

Hi Wing'n it,

I can also vouch for the snake skin. Had it on for about a year and it holds up really well, still looks like new.

If your want to keep it looking natural used 3m clear paint protectant, you can hardly see it, and it works.

Here's a simple and inexpensive option from JP Cycles: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/720-976

I have used these on my last three Goldwings and like them because they actually are functional. They are thick enough that you can grip them with your knees. I have never had one come off, and I like that they are not so big they overpower the tank.

Just be sure you have them exactly where you want them, because once they are down, they're staying down!

Read lots of bad reviews on this stuff on several sites. Something about the quality of the material changing?

That, I don't know. I've had mine for over a year, on the bike and have' had a problem. I did have to reapply the left side about 4 months ago but that was an easy process. For a little more money you can get the tank protector kit in 3M paint protector film.

I have a 2012 GL1800. I've had these on since I purchased the motorcycle in Dec. 2011. As mentioned earlier I have had to re-apply. That has been the only negative I have found. The biggest advantage is that they are pre-cut to fit a specific model, and when installed properly they do not change the looks/lines of the bike.

I ended up going with a product called Stomp Grip. They actually make a kit specific for the Goldwing/F6B not too bad priced at around 50 bucks. I went with the ultra clear, we'll see how it looks and works?

Is that that Midrider or King seat on your F6B?

Mine are Honda. Carbon fiber (not fake), and it says 'Honda Racing' on them. Fit perfect.

Here is the link: http://www.motosport.com/honda-genuine-accessories-carbon-fiber-knee-pads

I bought them from my dealer.

.... Looks like I'm trying to make the same thing you purchased Wing'n it..

I'm building templates for the tank, saddlebag and lower front cowling. These scuff pads will be made out of 3m Scotchguard clear - paint protective film.

The film is 8 mil in thickness and advertised to be totally clear, won't yellow and is removable.

Once I have the patterns done, I'll download them to a computer program then cut with a razer printer, to the exact size and shape.

This is not an advertisement or soliciting sales. I plan to make for myself and give away to friends.

You sold me on them with the photo. They look pretty darn good. Darn good price too and I would sure like a little extra knee traction in them twisties. .batman-smilie.

I got the Tech Spec about a year and a half ago. Have held up perfectly in blazing sun and temps in the 30s. They are cut to a perfect fit, unlike some with a generic shape that only "kinda" fit. A bit pricey but worth it to me. I got the Snakeskin. Very grippy.
