Hey all. I'm looking to add a bike lift in the garage. I'm interested to hear if anyone in here has any opinions on what to look for or companies that you all have had luck with for quality and value. Thanks!

I bought a harbor freight motorcycle lift.

It is good value for the money. It just has a few issues that need to be fixed. In researching this lift I found that a lot of people had problems with the Hydraulic pump after a year or so. All of them found that the pump was low on fluid and caused problems. Sure enough, when I opened the crate and pulled the little rubber plug from the pump it was only half full. I put some additional jack fluid in it and filled it up and have not had a problem in the 5 years I have owned it. Also, the front tire is held in place with a vertical channel and a vise like clamp that screws up tight against the front tire. I did not feel that it was sturdy enough for my larger bikes so I bought a regular front wheel chock and bolted it in place of the factory supplied one. I can drive the bike unto the lift and the front wheel into the chock and get off the bike and not worry about whether it will stay standing. For $299 I don't think you can buy a better lift.

This is the thing. The HF lift works. A Sportster is a MC also. Would you choose one over your B? Doubtful. With the HF lift you can't ride the bike up on it unless your inseam is 42 inches. So you have to build platforms on both sides. You can always walk it up on there. Mess up or trip and 900 lbs falls on you. Save up and buy a nice air over hydraulic lift. They can be had for around $850. That's my 2 cents.

This one has to be my favorite. What an ingenious invention.

For ME...the in ground lift is the ONLY way to go...you do not lose floor space, no danger of riding the bike onto the lift..down side is you lose about 7" with it in the ground...positive is you can park your truck on top of it !

I have kept that link for ja long time...may do it or wait till a new house comes along...but still within....

Steve the in ground is a good concept. Problem is taking that chock off every time you park a car there is a pain in the ass. My lift is only 5 inches off the ground. My F150 parks on top of it. I can also use my lift for my Honda Rubicon since its 48 inches wide. And 1 foot on each side can be removed if you need to get in close on the B. Just pull two clips and set the extension off. Its on wheels and comes with a little dolly to move it around. Just saying.

Steve I use my rack the most for cleaning. I put my flat jack under the centerstand and lift the rear "chrome" wheel so I can clean and polish it. I know what the center stand is for.

Just saying the chock is of little use ...IMHO Now the Center stand is a must have .....
