I know there are many different factors. (as in driving records and deductibles) But generally speaking what are you folks paying for insurance on the F6B

In NY, I pay $204 for a full year of coverage. This includes 100k/300k liability, $100K supplemental underinsured/uninsured, $50K PIP, full comp and collision with a $500 deductible on each, roadside assistance. Excellent credit and one not-at-fault claim on my record in the past two years. No tickets.

I'm shopping insurance right now myself. My cars and house are with State Farm, but I'm not very happy with them.

Anyone have a carrier that they ARE happy with?

Hey Stranger,

Good to see you over on this site. Thinking of getting yourself a F6? It seems like many of us Rune guys are making the switch or adding a F6 to the lineup. Anyway… I pay around $400 a year for the F6 and about $600 a year for the Rune to State Farm. But after seeing this thread I'm thinking that I may need to take another look at what else is out there? :iduno:

Since this is an insurance thread, I'm going to give you my experience on the recent accident I had.

Other driver's insurance accepted full liability. He came from a side entrance and clocked me broadside. I had full coverage with 100-300 for under insured. Unknown to me, my insurance (Progressive) had a clause in it that they only cover "up to" what the other insurance covers. In my case, the other guy had minimum coverage. In Massachusetts, that was 20-40. We got 50 from him (I don't know how), so I was only able to get 50 from mine. In Massachusetts, motorcycles aren't covered under PIP. I found that out when I went to a Dr. appointment, and they wanted a co-pay. I said the other guy is paying, not me. They looked into PIP at that time and said not with a bike accident. Each state is very different, but you guys need to read to read between the lines and see what you're really covered for.

I'm still waiting on my lawyer to write some checks (it's been two weeks and I guess he can't find the time), but rest assured, when I look for insurance again, these things will be questioned.

I will say this...Progressive was great when it came to paying out on the bike, which was totaled. I was happy with them up to the payout part on liability.

Safe riding,

Wayne

I am with Dairyland. I pay $291.00 for a year up front. I have the Texas state minimum coverage which I think is ok for a motorcycle and my driving situations (hopefully).
They show a credit for owning my home and a credit for winter (2 months where I live in Texas).
No accidents/tickets and good credit.
I got many estimates from different insurers and at the time Dairyland was the best. I had been with Foremost in the past.
Hope this info helps. I get estimates every year. Hard to trust any company anymore.

Not trying to sound like a smartass, but these insurance threads are only meaningful if comparing apples to apples, etc.

A quote doesn't tell much of the story unless coverages and limits are also spelled out, as some have done.

It makes a BIG difference on a quote if one carries 100/300k or even 500k of UM as opposed to 20k, for instance.

Otherwise, it's like a thread without pics....kinda worthless, imho.

Here is my current quote for renewal. I'm either going to try to do better or even lower some of my coverages somewhat. I also live 50 miles west of Chicago as regions also make a difference. I'm currently with Progressive, who were very good after I totaled out my Valkyrie Interstate in June due to a deer strike(comp claim).

If you look at the bottom of my quote, just adding 500k of Underinsure/uninsured motorist coverage adds $176 to my yearly coverage. Without it, it sounds like a good rate of $356/yr. With it added, the
premium would be $532, which sounds much worse.

That's why these threads kind of need full disclosure.

BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $138.00

30 miles west of Charlotte, NC paying $480 a year through Progressive. Better than minimum limits with roadside assistance which no others in this area offered. Spent three weeks after buying the 6 pricing insurance coverage and found none cheaper. I've never used Progressive for a claim, and hope I never have to, but sounds like for the most part those of you that have were pleased with their response so only time will tell.

A lot of them that you have your bike insured with cover the bike and some add on accessory coverage and don't cover the rider or passenger, you must always check to see if that is the way your insurance coverage is because they will never tell you that fact. Talk about taking in the :moon:

I'm here in Southern Maryland could not afford the Insurance for one bike (M109) with Allstate which carries my home and my two vehicles, Genesis/Ford F-150. Went with Progressive for $760 per year for both bikes. 57 years old. (2013 F6B and 2008 M109). I thought this was a great price.

Just to throw in my $0.02 worth...regardless of what carrier you choose, be sure to add accessory coverage to your policy. My Progressive policy includes $11,000 in accessory coverage. Let me tell you how important this is...

On September 11, I had what I thought was a moderate get-off in Colorado. My injuries were very minor, and the bike was ride-able the 40 miles back to the closest dealer. I rented a van and trailered the bike back to Nashville.

Long story short, Progressive totaled my 2012 level 3 and gave me a check for $27,000...$20,000 for the bike and $7,000 for the accessories. Helped ease my pain quite a bit!

If you don't have optional accessory coverage, your basic policy covers only a modest amount, like up to $1,500...adding the optional coverage was well worth it to me, and I wouldn't be without it. If you ever have an accident, you'll be glad you have this coverage!

Its amazing the difference in rates from state to state. What's affordable in one state is out of sight in another. Another thing that bugs me is like I have Farmers for my House , Truck , Car , and Jeep. They don't even really want talk about my two bikes. And yet I shop them every year , and I can't beat them on the auto and house coverage. By the same token I can't afford Allstate for the house and autos but can't beat them on the bikes. I would like to have it all with one carrier but it would just cost me more money.

I have Erie for house, three cars, two sleds, camp. They are more expensive than others on the cars and house, but cheaper on the sled insurance ($150 each, for full coverage). Others are often double that.

Erie doesn't write bike policies; they outsource to Progressive, which, ironically, is more expensive than buying it from Progressive directly.

Not a lot of things in upstate NY are cheaper than other places, but motor vehicle insurance sure is. We fully insure three cars with 250/500k liability, tons of SUM/IM, PIP, collision, comp, etc. for $1800 per year. As mentioned, two bikes and ATV, two of which are less than 3 years old, fully covered, is $285 per year with Progressive.

$370 per year for full coverage on two bikes thru Allstate here in central Florida. I consider this a great rate due to having a 12 month riding season unlike some parts of the country that have considerably shorter riding seasons. I do not however purchase road service with my policy due to the fact that I have the Honda Protection Plan (extended warranty) and I have road service thru them.

After spending the past week getting quotes from every insurance I could ever remember even hearing of, it would appear that Nationwide is probably going to get my policy.

My homeowners and cars are with State Farm, and their quote turned out to be one of the most expensive. Suits me, actually. I've only made one claim with them in over 25 years, for a total payout of about six hundred dollars. Starting at the next term period, they DOUBLED my car premiums. $370 a half to $800.

State = Texas

Bodily Injury Liability $30,000 each person/$60,000 each accident
Property Damage Liability $25,000 each accident
Personal Injury Protection Rejected
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Rejected
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage Rejected

$750 deductible

I haven't spent a ton of time in New England, but I did notice the distance between towns and villages in often very short. The Cape is great - except for the traffic and the people - that is why I like it more in the off-season.
