I was wondering if anyone had tried these as fairing replacement speakers? A local store sells them, and I know nothing about them. Sellin for about $90 for the pair :icon_rolleyes:

Amazon has them for $77 and free shipping.

88dB is NOT an efficient speaker. Will take a lot of juice to run them. They also do not appear to be Marine grade.

Size (in) 6.5
RMS / Peak (w) 50 / 100
Magnet Weight (oz) 10
Mounting Depth (in) 2.25
Sensitivity (dB) 88

Yes I notice the sensitivity difference of 88 vs 92db for the Polk DXI651

Every 3dB is a doubling or halfing in power. These will require at least 2X as much power as the Polk DXI651, assuming all other specs being equal.

I hooked up some Cerwin Vega XED62s, well, one just to test. These are rated at 94db and it was no louder than stock. Didn't waste the effort to do the full install.
Stock speakers seem to be pretty efficient.

Just sayin; don't mix two different speakers, particularly if they are rated differently in ohm ratio. Hard on both the amp and speakers.
The oem amp is rated for 3.7 ohm or 4 ohm effectively. Speakers rated below are not compatable.

Good advice. Made sure these were 4 ohm speakers before connecting.
It seems that without upgrading the amp there is little chance of getting a volume boost by using aftermarket speakers unless you can find some 96db or louder. They're gonna be out of my price range.
Everything's fine as long as I don't listen to Dubstep or EDM.

There tends to be a trade off on High E speaker as will suffer slightly in fidelity (90+)
