Just got Shoei Neotech, and have never had a helmet with Pinlock available. Would love to hear comments, good and bad about using Pinlock. Does it really work? Affect the optics? Hard to clean? Do you really need to remove it at night as advised in the instructions? Thanks, all.

I have them on my Shoei helmet visors and think they are great.
Ive not had any fogging (although I don't live in a cold climate)
I have once had water dribble inside the seal, but that was a few years ago.
I don't think they are hard to clean, and I haven't noticed and optical issues, so Ive never removed it at night.
Just make sure your visor is spotless prior to fitting.
I recommend them.

Good good review on how Pinlock technology works:

I usually crack my shield for a bit... until the fogging goes away. But I may try Pinlocks as well.

I would vote yes on a pinlock. I have a Shoei Neotec and have used a pinlock for over a year. No fogging and find it easy to maintain. I have no issues with it at night.

Pinlock works great. I hardly ever remove it. Just for occasional cleaning.

I have two Shoei Neotec's. Both have pinlocks and work great. I do not notice any optical distortion and have never had a fogging issue.

This may be a silly question, but I've never had reason nor opportunity to try Pinlok.

Are they intended as a one-time install and use permanently proposition.....or is the idea to install and remove as conditions dictate?

I think its a liability issue. Honestly its why I like the helmet. With the moveable sunshade , pinlock , and clear shield its an all weather , day or night helmet. I've used mine dozens of times at night. I can see great out of it.

The manufacturer states not to use the pinlock lens at night because it reduces the level of light coming through the shield, thus reducing the rider's vision. Sort of like, a rider shouldn't ride with a smoked or tinted shield at night.

I just purchased a new Neotech helmet as well and haven't tried the pin lock lens yet. I sure needed it last night...my Qwest helmet was fogging up big time.

Mine stays in day/night never had any problem with light and I have somewhat bad eyes to start with...

Pinlock on my Shoei QWest. Get a little fogging on outer edge if its real cold but just cracking it open a smidgen usually clears it up.

Guess that I must be the exception. I tried the pinlock on my Schuberth C3pro and the view was distorted for me. I had to remove it and just crack the shield when I come to a stop.

My pinlock works fine, but my left lens fogs up all the time and I have to crack the shield anyway. I use anti-fogging fluid too.

I should have specified....my motorcycle glasses fog up, not the pinlock. Just the left one!

Why does the anti fog stuff work at the shows, then you bring it home and it doesn't. I applied the stuff right before the ride.

Love to ride
