Took 5 mins to install. Pull the trim off that sits above the light panel (not sure that you even need to do that). Remove the two 10mm nuts inside both bags to remove the light panel. Pull the wire harness off and rotate the bulb carrier to the left about 1/4 turn to remove. Running lights are brighter than factory and lights flash 3 times each time the brakes are engaged.

Do you need to purchase the resistor kit as well, or are these just plug and play replacements?

These are plug and play. With all the lights I have added, the only system modification was to replace the turn signal flasher.

I came off of a full dress wing. I had mounted the Whelen TIR 3 and connected it to the brakes. I planned on doing the same on the "B" then a saw theSuper Brite brake mod. It is not as bright as a Whelen, but install is much easier and it goes solid after three flashes. Install is simple and well worth it.

Thanks for not only telling us exactly what you bought, but also how to do it. I would NOT have tried this myself if it was not for your instructions. Glad to hear that my post was so helpful. I'm in the same boat and not very daring, so I like to hear other peoples experiences as well. I don't post a lot, but I figure that if I have a question, or an answer, there is probably someone else looking for the same info.

Since there is no common flasher, how do the two bulbs flash together in synchronized fashion?

The circuitry in each bulb is identical. When power is applied the circuit turns on and flashes independently of the other. It just appears they are in sync, which they are, but they ain'tnot.

Thank you for the explanations. So basically, the precision of the internal semiconductor manufacturing tolerances is what reduces the timing variations between LED flashes to imperceptible levels. I think I can handle zero wiring, so I just ordered a set. Many thanks to Davidk for introducing this product.

I removed the two 10mm nuts inside the bags, and ... the light bar didn't even move! So I looked up the 2013 parts view, and sure enough, my "combination light" has 4 nuts instead of 2 (see part #18 in attachment). The other 2 nuts are not easily accessible -- not sure how to reach them and how much plastic I'll have to take out. But I suspect it will take more than 5 mins! :icon_frown:

Ordered mine at end of last week... arrived today in the mail... took about 15 min to install. You will need to open both saddlebags... locate the two 10mm bolts (head facing front) and loosen them (not on very tight from factory...).

Using a plastic trim pry tool (small one from set bought at Harbor Freight months ago for the car... finally got to use one of them!), gently pull the plastic trim panel above the light fixture -- starting from the outside and gently (gently x2) pulling until you get to the top-center of the trim piece. There is a "catch" there... I used the pry tool to finesse the upper (larger trim piece over tail upwards to release from the top edge of the trim panel.

Then, pulling gently up on the upper trim panel, you can pull the entire light bar assembly out. Use a towel or something to cover the lower trim panel where license plate mounts so you don't inadvertently scratch that plastic.

Locate the two bulb holders -- twist and turn to release -- remove OEM and insert the LEDs (I used latex glove "just in case..." to avoid transferring finger oil to the LEDs). Do a test of the brakes before assembly (reverse all the steps).

I'm liking the simplicity of this mod. Flashing red lights will certainly help vehicles behind "see" that braking is occurring (I sure HOPE at least!). No need for aux. resistors or relays like when adding "Switchback" bulbs for front signals (did that yesterday).

Ordered mine at end of last week... arrived today in the mail... took about 15 min to install. You will need to open both saddlebags... locate the two 10mm bolts (head facing front) and loosen them (not on very tight from factory...).

Be advised that:
Even though they fit both ways, they only work in one position AND
A few of us have had them come loose and fall into the tail light lens - recommend a bit of black tape to secure them in place once you get the polarity correct.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks for the polarity tip! I got lucky (50% chance on each one that I'd insert incorrectly...both work!). The bulbs from the seller on eBay fit into the holder (plug) really tight, so at this point, I'm not too concerned about them falling out, but will keep an eye on them and maybe check after I've put on some miles (and vibration). Cheers!
