Couldn't ride with the rain in Houston, so the youngest and I did our best Band of Brothers act. Been a long time since we broke out the militaria bang bangs.

Good stuff. I didn't know they made left handed Garands.

That is what we did for my bachelor party. Wifey nixed the strippers so went to a local 1,000 yard range.

Good looking boy Stro. Are you sure he's yours?? Man I am just kidding. That boy is lucky to have a dad that spends time with him and takes him shooting. Nothing better a father and son can do , except maybe ride.

I'm curious myself, he just got a job delivering milk.

He's a much better rifle shot than me, but he doesn't get along with that Garand after a few clips. I put 8 through it and my shoulder is stinging pretty good.

Couldn't imagine humping it through Europe or the Pacific with one of those beasts.

What are the cross bars for (muzzle flip control and/or elevation shooting) ?

Just muzzle flip. It's only a flat range with 100yards max. It's so close to the house it's very convenient, but not for long range

Here is my makeshift muzzle flip control. The top of the box canyon is 1,000 yards.

First set of 4 targets to the left are at 75 yards and the ones at the right are at 100 yards, then 200 yards and onward to steels from @ 500 yards to 1,000 yards.

The Garand reminds me of a funny family time when my oldest bought his first firearm, meaning he paid and the works.. Anyway, he comes home beaming with pride wanting to go out and shoot his new rifle. Ok, he bought a Czech Mosin Negant, 7.625 military rifle wit a bayonet.
He shot it 4 times and I shot it 3 times and we had to put it away..Gaash..that thing was violent to shoot. Both our shoulders had had it. We laughed about how tough the Czech women soldiers were to hump that around.
Anyway, your video reminded me of good times shooting, with my sons. Thanks.

I can attest to the healthy kick a Mosin Nagant will impart to your shoulder; I have six of those puppies....

You want some deep muscle pain? Another rifle that will flat out make you hurt in the Steyr Mannlicher M1895. I have three of those and it is a requirement to keep a PAST Super Mag Plus Recoil Pad Shield under your shirt; as well as a pair of protective shooting glasses, since case ruptures are quite common with the older surplus ammunition for them. Like a min-firecracker spitting back in your face when that happens.
