I have to share my helmet experiences with you.

Over Christmas I went helmet crazy.

I bought the Schuberth C3 for half price for $329.00 too good to pass up. This is a great helmet and is still available at Revzilla for that price today. I will wear this in cold weather, rain, after dark, or on long trips.

I have decided to wear more than the Harley 1/2 helmet as much as possible from now on for safety.
I also bought the new Scorpion EXO-CT220 $149.00 (great helmet / very comfortable / good quality)

http://images0.revzilla.com/product_images/0095/7866/scorpion_exoct220_helmet_solids_detail.jpghttp://images0.revzilla.com/product_images/0095/7834/scorpion_exoct220_helmet_solids_detail.jpg

It can be worn with the full face shield or the visor,

I really like this helmet with just the visor and pop down 1/2 shield. It goes down far enough for me not to need sunglasses with foam. I wear contacts and need sunglasses with foam to prevent my eyes from drying out.

I thought I would like the full face shield but at speeds over 80mph I get a little shake in the shield unless I put my Madstad windshield up a little higher.

I think that I am going to love the combination of these two helmets under most conditions.

I am sure there may be a few days that are just too hot to wear anything but the 1/2 helmet. But I will never ride more than around the block without a helmet.

I forgot to tell you that I set both of them up with Sena Bluetooth. (I highly recommend the Sena)

I still have my Shoei full face and might just keep it now for rain or any other bad weather. I can deal with the issues on a short term basis. I went with a Bell Pit Boss 1/2 helmet. Never thought I would, but after trying it, like you, it's going to be my main one. I'll see how longer travel is with it compared to the full face. I'll go full face if need be, but try a different model.

I have the Bell Mag-9 and after one summer of wearing it I wonder why it took me so long to switch from the half helmet. I realy like the look of that scorpion though and great price.

That is EXACTLY the one I keep putting my finger on, but then easing it back off of the trigger. I want get get it in white though....

How do you like that helmet; as far as noise is concerned? Because I want to buy the Sena SMH-10 that is made for it.

Love the helmet no complaints. A very comfortable helmet for sure. I bought it because 2 of my riding buddies had them and they swore by them. I was tired of having the wind in my ears but was worried that with this helmet I would not hear my music as good as the open face. Man was I wrong, no more wind in the ears and my music is easier to hear.
The other cool part is I no longer wear sunglasses I just use the drop down tinted shield.
The couple I ride with have the bluetooth set up and they stream their music, take phone calls and chat with each other all while on seperate bikes.
I only wish they had them in blue to match the bike but oh well.

Cool. I think I'll order one. My HJC 3/4 is getting a little long in the tooth.

+1 for the Scorpion.I was fortunate to get my new 3X from Big Larry as it was to tight for his forehead. Thanks again Larry for the great price!-I have been using it for about six thousand miles of riding and like Steve I have it set up with the visor and pop down half shield.Very comfoartable and I love the pop down shield. Not to heavy and pretty quiet at freeway speeds with my 19" Baggershield windscreen.Overall a great value with nice features for the price.

I wear this exact helmet. Out of all the helmets I've owned, and I've owned a few, this is by far the best all around helmet I've ever had and use it religiously. It comes with the peak visor, the full shield and dark tinted drop down visor. Can't say enough good things about it.

Yes, I agree!!
I have only had it a month or so but the weather has been very cold.
The few times I have ridden with it have been great. I can listen to the bikes radio with no sunglasses and feel very comfortable. It almost feels like a 1/2 helmet with the wind in your face and no claustrophobic feeling. Should be much safer than the 1/2 helmet and as far as no helmet goes I can only do that on a very short ride.

Revzilla have been sold out of the C3 in my size (Med) for about 3 weeks. I was so disappointed. :icon_frown:

In my old age, it is about weight and comfort. I was a Scorpion guy for years as they are top quality, but they are just too heavy for a 60 year old lazy neck. Currently have 5 Bells. They are a great bang for the buck.

I tend to agree! BTW-- I have added a Bilt and WSB since the picture. OCD is a very expensive condition.

How heavy is the Scorpion EXO-CT220? I really like this helmet, been looking for a 3/4 that i like for some months now and this one fits the bill for sure. I was asking about the weight because my wife has a Scorpion full face that she likes but I hate it. I wear a Sedici carbon fiber full face(wasnt cheap buddy lol) and its really light which is what I like. Heavier helmets give me a head ache, I usually put a good 6 - 8 hours in the saddle on sundays when I do get a chance to ride. Thanks

I, too, jumped on the Schuberth deal at Christmas. I thought it would be short-lived, but they are still on sale for $329! I did get mine from RevZilla as well, back in November. I was able to ride with it on for about 300 miles or so. The build quality is top notch and it is very comfortable to wear; however, it is not quite as quiet as advertised. As for the sound system with the helmet on, with the shield fully closed, you do have to turn the volume up a little bit and sound insulation does knock the top off of the highest notes, so keep that in mind if you want to buy one and are a music connoisseur.

I like this helmet...but...I feel that they are not safe enough to wear. Injuries to the jaw and face are one of the most common in motorcycle accidents.

Yes, this is chance we all take. Motorcycle riding is potentially dangerous and life ending. Or seriously disfiguring and maiming.

Choice(s) we make:

:tapfing:

1. Do I wear a Full face or a 3/4 helmet today?
2. Do I wear armored pants or blue jeans today?
3. Do I wear armored jacket or t-shirt today?
3. Do I wear finger less gloves or full gloves today?
4. Do I wear boots or sneakers today?

I am just attempting to share my experience with this new helmet. I have been trying for the last year to get gear that is safer. I have a problem with wearing a full face helmet in the extreme summer heat and humidity. I just feel that if I am comfortable and will wear this 3/4 helmet I will be much safer than wearing a 1/2 helmet.

I can be reasonably comfortable in the summer with very good Dianese mesh pants and a leather perf jacket. I find the full face helmet for longer rides in the summer heat almost too exhausting which is almost unsafe. The most important thing is to never go down. This 3/4 helmet is something I can comfortably wear and gives me the free feeling I really enjoy with the 1/2 helmet.
