Hi all, does anyone wear a kidney or back support belt during extra long rides these days. I'm considering trying one it as i'm getting older and when doing multiple days of 5-600 km my back tends to complain somewhat.
I'm yet to be convinced of the benefit but i'm sick of lower back pain when i ride.

Cheers and best

Not the answer that you would like, but strengthening your core and lower back muscles is the only solution. A kidney or back support belt will only mask the weakness of your back and will not really help."coffee"

I have a back support belt that I need to use on my 1978 GL1000. I also use them on my F6B on longer rides because the Mustang seat has no backrest. I actually have two, one from Sears that can be found here if I got the link right........

And I rode to Americade one year and forgot the belt so I picked up a second one for the ride home at Hot Leathers just like this .....

Thanks for the replies guys, yep i agree, there is no substitute for strong muscles, but in my case 40 years in Tanks and armoured carriers has not improved my situation, I'm thinking of giving it a go on my next ride in a couple of weeks where i'll be riding to Margaret River in Western Australia as part of the 'Long Ride' raising money and awareness for the 'Prostate Cancer Foundation' i think the round trip is about 12000km so it will be a good test to help me decide if a belt will help.

Cheers Chris

A backrest in your seat will do the trick. After I added mine plus a Airhawk seat cushion it was a "game changer". I easily do 750-1000 mi days now and feel rested.

I used a back wrap for several longer trips, but got too hot where is was and after a while it road up. I have found if you sit tall and stretch your back from time to time all's good.

Hey Chris, I used a cheap back support belt that I got from Aldis when I rode to,Tasmania, it really helped, since then I have installed a backrest and that has really made a difference but the belt worked. Enjoy the trip.
