View Full Version : Heading to the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway , again.

I posted about my impromptu trip to Deal Gap/ Robbinsville, NC a couple weeks ago. I got a couple of buddies I'm taking down again tomorrow morning. This time we're going to stay the night in Telico Plains. SHould be a fun time. Anytime on two wheels right?:icon_lol:

Yup, this is a beautiful time of year in the mountains!!! All green and brand new! I may be up there on the 13th, still trying to get the time approved! Hope you enjoy your ride!

Dang new job has put an end to my impromptu bike trips to the mountains. Memorial Day weekend and Myrtle Beach Week is not to far off.

Please post pics so I can guess where you are.

Sounds like a great day Jimmy. Hopefully we can meet up in september if you have some free time the week i will be there. I will launching rides from LLoyds on the River in Bryson City, NC from September 13th - 17th and leaving on the 18th.

We had a great time. Stayed at the Lodge in Telico Plains. Really nice with a garage for our bikes. We rode down back roads to the Dragon on Sat. Then across the Cherohala , which put us near our nights stay. We got up and after some breakfast, made our way up to the "Devil's Triangle". After that we shot up and over to 25E just to go through the Cumberland Gap tunnel. Never been through there before. Beautiful weather and some nice roads. We had a great time.

I have stayed at the place you stayed several times. I have been going to Telico for the past 7 or 8 years and like it a lot. Looks like some nice riding.

Couple of friends are wanting me to go some time this summer. If we do I'll be sure to holler at ya!! One of my favorite rides. Are you about ready for a summer vacation?

Going to be in Morgantown next month for a week. INZANE XVI , a Valkyrie rally, is being held there this year. Last year it was in Spearfish,SD.

Nice roads around Morgantown. Was there about three summers ago with an M109 rally group. Not far away is the "Back of the Dragon". You don't hear much about it. They say it's not as technical as the "Tail", but longer...30 something miles. I believe we rode down to Marion, Va, then headed north.

Yeah, that's what I hear. Looking forward to doing a lot of riding that way.

Some good rides in this area. If you're gonna be in Motown and have some time, I'll shoot you my number and maybe we can put on a few miles or at least have a cold one. I'm about 45 minutes south.
