Promised Doug, flat6bagger, the next time I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge I would take some shots and post them. For some reason or another putting padlocks on the bridge is a big thing. My wife told me they do it in France, why we would mimic anything the French do, I couldn't tell you.

Freedom Tower, constructed where the Twin Towers were put up. A new high rise with offset floor construction, really cool looking.

Since it started in Italy I'm OK with it. I guess true love means you're "locked" in.

As I recall back in the day I wouldn't kiss a girl unless she mimic-ed the French. They don't make bad potatoes either!

Pair of lock snips and you have a fair amount of metal for the recycling yard. Looks like fair game.

Apparently, there were so many locks on the French bridge it was actually weighing it down.

Indeed, soon as I get close to the two reflecting pools, on the footprints of the Towers, and hear the thunder of that water cascading down those walls it sends a chill down my spine every single time.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Years ago we took the kids to Ground Zero to pay our respects. Very sobering indeed. Someday the wife and I will go back.

Had a buddy who worked in the Verizon building, 140 West St., right across the street from Building 7 and he took these shots shortly after.

You know the sad thing is that I think most people have forgotten that heinous crime committed against our country. I still remember. And yeah 53 , it makes me sick too. I don't feel like we got our revenge. It took too long. We should have flattened that place the next day.

Back in 1996 my youngest son turned 6 and I asked him where he wanted to go and he said "To the top of the Twin Towers"

1. South Tower looking up from West St.
2. Going up the escalator of the main lobby to the elevator banks in the South Tower
3. Looking down onto Church St. from the highest inside observation floor.

Aye - superheated sand turns to glass, right? The Middle East could have been VERY shiny!

1. Looking north on the outdoor observation deck, Empire State Building is dead center.
2. Looking east to Brooklyn with the East River below and the Brooklyn Bridge.
3. Manhattan Bridge is visible to the left of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Hard to believe it was 20 years ago, that little boy just got married 2 weeks ago, man I'm getting old.

The photos and memories you made with your son are Great.

The photos of the Trade Centers are horrific.

I agree with others that not enough was done soon enough, or harsh enough.

There is no way to even think that this will ever be settled with the American people. It turns my stomach.

For "American people" - yes, it will never be settled.
What really churns the acid in my stomach?
For those masquerading as Americans or some ridiculous, divisive hyphenated version, they advocate this is "old news" and we should just get over it.

I was on a roof running telephone cables in South Brooklyn when it all happened, didn't know anything, all I remember is the smell of burnt steel in the air and there were snow-like flakes of, I guess, the building coming down.

My son had a great birthday and always reminds of how lucky he was to go there and get to the top. I used to eat at the restaurant on the top floor, Windows on the World and drank at the Greatest Bar on Earth, both on the 107th floor, christened a lot of ships there. When I was single my pockets would jingle.

And Obama says he will veto the Bill (passed by a vocal vote today by both parties) that allows families of the bombings to sue (Sadia Arabia) in court......POS

taxfree4
05-17-2016, 06:53 PM
Let him veto it this way the onus will be on Congress to override then we'll see, and have on the record, who won't vote to strike the veto. Being Congress is composed of 47% lawyers this should be a slam dunk, however, Saudi Arabia spreads a lot of money around Washington so I'm guessing no.

How the hell did you get to the top of the Verrazano, or any of the them? I always said I'd like to be the light bulb changer on that bridge, it has to be a job for life.

An elevator most of the way, followed by about 75' of ladder climbing... lol

It was work related, involving radio repeater equipment on the bridges.
