GaTeach

Patch-no goals. This is just me. Rollin. Although if I'm within one hundred miles of the next 1000 mark, it's very hard for me to get to the house. Lol

Yesterday afternoon, for instance, I'm 48 miles shy of 28K. Normally, there is no way I would've let that stand. Lol. But I stopped by the house, closed my eyes JUST FOR A MINUTE, and woke up twelve hours later. :)

Btw, with your mileage, we may run into each other in the next couple of months. I'm planning to head through your great state. Stopping in The Woodlands, Round Rock, and Seguin. :)

omgwtfbbq! I do the same thing...If I'm close to ticking a 1K marker, I keep riding. I knew there had to be someone else out there that did this.

I'm in Pflugerville, just an exit or two down from Round Rock. If you are gonna be in the area on a weekend or a day other than end of a month, and you are up for an adventure I'd be happy to join you for a trip out for the three sisters if you're up for an all day event, or if you'd like to explore around the Austin area, there are about 10 really good roads that can be hit in a matter of 6 to 8 hours.

And open to anyone passing through the area...I'd be happy to buy ya lunch or dinner if you're just passing through. There are alot of unique places to get your grub on. Just let me know what yer hunkerin' for.

Were you able to get your Heli bars mounted? If so how do you like them? I can read so I don't need a photo.

Were you able to get your Heli bars mounted?

They're mounted. I've got about a thousand miles on them. They are unreal. I really wasn't expecting this dramatic of a difference. Right side feels great.

But the handling. Omg. I was on an extremely rough road earlier today. The pavement was wavy. Across the lane and down the lane. Lol. Before I would've been bouncing all over the road. No more.

If I am not mistaken the bar at the top that connects the unit together ads some stability to the forks.

53driver
05-26-2016, 09:45 PM
Yes, it does provide stability.

Between an added fork brace and that bar, there is very little wiggle room for the handlebars.

Helibars are on my "wish list."
Maybe I can get a "go-fund-me" thing started.....

Actually, given it's Memorial Day weekend, I reckon you are out with your PGR brethren doing veteran related civic duties.
Good on you.

Aye. Your left breast says it all!

The guy representing the VA/GNC was on point yesterday. Truly had his shit in one sock. The way he escorted the widow up the walk....the way he handled the Navy honor guard... His comments to the family at the end of the service....everyone was commenting on how shit hot he was.

He told the widow he was a Vietnam Vet as well and as soon as he said that I thought, "Marine" lol

Sure enough, after the service, we were furling the flags and he asked me if I was a Marine. I said, "No. I just love Marines." He said, "Well, thank you for loving me. Semper Fi." :)))))

What a moving event. You are in with a great bunch there, Teach.
Volunteering to be a part of "motorcycle escort" duty can be (and usually is) very rewarding.
Ride to eat events are great, but you can always eat after the service/ceremony.

We had a blast. They ride those Louisiana back roads like his Uncle's the Sheriff. Fun.

Headed toward The Woodlands. :)

FAA. We went to get communications systems and weather systems restored. 53driver was flying in and we had to be ready. He's very demanding that way. It was scary driving in from the south to NOLA. I worked in NOLA for several years and was familiar with the Thibodaux and Houma and Grand Isle areas. Sad to see what happened down there.

It's a little easier to pick up 600 miles when there's little traffic, straight smooth roads, and a relative lack of a speed limit.

If your going to be that close, less than 100 mi away, up the turnpike, why don't you join us on the NE meet and greet Sunday morning and see the Poconos, Delaware water gap national park +? The weather forecast is for perfect riding conditions, sunny with temps in the low 80's. The details on the ride are under the meet and greet forum. The planed ride should be over by 2:30 giving you plenty of time for lunch and to get back to your evening festivities. In fact one of the group riders is coming up from, Bath, Pa. I'm sure he'll enjoy someone to ride home with. If you have any questions or needs for accommodations for Saturday night etc. send me a PM.

Shooter, shooter, shooter a radar detector cannot ever beat a great smile and a chick on a bike. I was thrown in jail, with my dog, at 2 a.m. in Dunn, N.C. because I was going 30 mph over the speed limit, with an Escort Radar Detector, till the judge/baker/mayor showed up to give me a $225 fine, in the early 80's. I had to follow the HP into town, it was like a slow death, I heard the theme from "Deliverance" going through my brain on the way to the courthouse/pharmacy/ice cream parlor.

If I were to ever buy another F6B... it would be the white one. With those headlight modulators and a white helmet... people just can't quite make you out and will error on the side of caution... works for me

Grant (Blueverclear) met me at Dot's Diner in Kenner (HMMOG-stop there if you're in the area). We met up with another riding buddy of his-a super cool HD guy named Gus. (Yes, there are super cool HD guys)

We rode miles of backroads in the bayou at extremely high speeds. Canals on both sides of the road. What a blast. They dropped me off just east of the Atchafalaya Basin.

I had a big time riding with these guys in South Louisiana. In this pic, we are waiting on a swinging bridge. Got around the pickup in a hurry.

Couple of observations:
I thought canals on both sides of the road was kind of scary until Grant explained to me why it wasn't. "Yeah, you get wet. But it's a lot softer than pavement or ground." Lol

I thought Louisiana had a lot of gravel on the roads. They don't. Colorado and Pennsylvania have a lot of gravel on the road.

Everyone in the rest of the country must come dump their trash on the side of the road in LA. What the hell, people?

Grant told his buddy, Gus, to take the lead and kick it. Gus said, "Kick it? What about her?" Grant said, "Don't you worry about her, buddy, she'll keep up." Lol too much fun

No Teach , that's not one of them. We took two different ferry's , one of them twice. Both directions. I don't know the names. I just follow Trevor. Ohio has reasonable ferry rates. Dollar per wheel. Here in MO they charge $7 per bike. What a rip. I do my best to never give them money.
