USB in the trunk and Android phones

Has anyone been able to get an Android cell phone to play through the stereo with the USB in the trunk? I have a Samsung Galaxy S5.

I have it working blue tooth / I was wondering if anyone has their Android working plugged in direct to the USB in the saddlebag.

Android phones running Lollipop or later are capable of playing music via their USB connection. I've not attempted it on the bike though......

fill an 8gb zip drive and just leave it in the saddlebag. You'll never run out of music and your phone isnt stuck in a saddlebag. I hate not having my cell phone on my body somewhere in case I need it to summon help should I ever be "separated" from the bike. If youre layin in a ditch and the phone is in a saddlebag down the road, it does no good.

Agree. The only way my android would play was the connector in the front cubby -but no control over the songs or back/forward. The zip drive or an Ipod is the way to go. I ,too,like my phone on me.I'm not going to answer it,but I want to know if someone is calling(my kids know to keep calling if it's an emergency and I'll pull over....

I too have a flash drive in the side bag. Plenty of options to play your music. Set up the drive on a computer, so that your music in separate files, then you can select them from your front control.

I also bought a bluetooth transmitter from Lowes, Dewalt for about $38. I bluetooth the phone to the Dewalt, which is the left cubby plugged into the audio cable.

Then on the bike controls you have the option of Aux, for flash drive, or USB for phone music. That way the phone can be on you, or any where else on the bike.

I have had the USB memory stick almost since I bought the bike. I also over the winter bought the USB receiver plugs into the saddlebag USB port for the Android to play via Bluetooth to the bike stereo. Sometimes difficult to connect plus I wanted to have the option of connecting to charge and play in the saddlebag.

I saw that others do it with the I-Phone so I thought ask if anyone could do it with the Android.

It fits in the usb port in trunk and allows me to play music AND use handlebar controls to change tracks on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. A little finicky on connectivity and the sound quality could be a little better, but it works most of the time. For 2 bucks, not complaining it is really nice to be able to change tracks. I got the bluetooth 2.1 one on purpose because people were saying the 4.0 didnt work well

Sound is a little better and connectivity is better, then again it is about a foot from the phone.
