Do we screw the dipstick back in or. Just stick it in when checking oil level

Like the title says what is correct ? My Kaw lawn tractor v-twin says on the dipstick don't screw back in but nothing on our F6 stick or in the owners manual I can find.

I am referring to after the oil has a couple three thousand miles not after an oil change.
Also understand it needs to be on the center stand etc no question with that just do we screw back in and take the reading there or just drop it back in and take that reading ?

I have checked after changing oil and have found that if you screw in the dipstick it will show overfilled. So I always just drop the dipstick into the hole and pull it out and check it. It should read full.
