Here's some pix of the extended rack installed on The Red Headed Stepchild, for those considering a purchase. Really nice looking rack (yeah I know).
Some nits: Not crazy about the stainless bolts, heads are smaller than stock black and holes are quite large as well so could do with washers, but holes are not centered so they won't fit. Gonna need to find some caps for the holes to hide them.
Overall nice job by Pete and I'm quite pleased. Comments?

Thanks for the feedback amongst the many things we discovered during this project was that maybe not so much with the backrest in place but the factory mounts are somewhat variable hence the slotted holes, also really hard to find black screws that a supplier would guarantee would not corrode on us very quickly, Honda uses some exotic process that nobody was able supply anything suitable in the time we allowed so for now its stainless hardware.

we had hoped to find some bolts with larger heads but if anyone feels they need some washers I am happy to mail some out to you.

I may look into some rubber caps to drop into the holes to hide the mounts.

Overall I am pretty happy.

Pete, nice work.

Looks like F6B owners will have several options for a replacement rack.

That looks AWESOME! When did you get it? I'm waiting on mine. Maybe today?

Do you think the screw heads are going to be an issue with a loaded rack?

I love how it looks like the factory rack but it's wider. It will look really good with my wide Baggershield. Can't wait to get it!

The screw heads are well below the level of the load deck they will be nowhere near anything

He said the heads are small compared to the hole size. That's what I was referring to.

Got mine and installed in about 15 minutes. 4 bolts out, 4 bolts in. My rack is shiny black but yours Contek looks flat black from photo. I would have liked flat black. It's all good. Maybe just photo?? No problem for me with bolts. They are recessed and will be no problem with whatever is mounted on it. It is a big a-- rack and makes the OEM rack look like an ornament. I b happy there Pedro

Apparently there are about four that came in shinny black opposed to the flatter I have not actually seen one in person and I have no idea how they came to be, that said if your happy all is good and I guess you got the special limited edition

Pete,
Got back from vacation Saturday afternoon. My rack was on the table. Installed it right away and I am very pleased. It looks great and will do exactly what I want it to do. Should you come up with some black caps please let me know.
Thanks again,
Bob

I found some black caps at Lowes.............unfortunately, they are not the right size.
The holes are 13/16" or 26mm which is a size they don't have. 3/4" is too small and 7/8" is too big.

I ordered a package of 13/16" Black Nylon Locking Hole and Knockout Plug (http://www.zorotools.com/g/Nylon%20Locking%20Hole%20and%20Knockout%20Plugs/00056803/). The package has 25 plugs. When I get them in and they are in fact the right size, I can mail some out to those who want them.

Installed mine last Friday night, I got the black shiny one also, but I am OK with that. Already used it Saturday morning, hauling a modified muffler for my nephew for his Yamaha so he could try to keep up with my F6B. SORRY CHARLIE, No luck keeping up with the Black F6 :nono:

I wish I got a shiny one, my flat one is scratched up already. No worse than the stock grab rails though. Mine scratch really easy.

These are now 3/16 thick and have to to be cut out of a sheet of steel instead of coming in strips....this is the reason for the increase in price.....

I installed your backrest this weekend. It was the first chance I had to do so. The wife said it made her feel safer. The company I had the custom seat made at, Rich's Seat, will be making a larger surface area pad now for the passenger pad. Hopefully those two combinations will make my wife feel more safe and comfortable on the back.
