Don't have an F6B yet, but looking at the 2016 models with the matte finish on the paint. How do you care for that? I didn't think you'd use a wax or polish on it, correct?

Welcome. There are specialized products for the matte finish. Check this thread (http://hondaf6b.com/showthread.php?7744-Cleaning-matte-paint). I've had my matte silver bike for about a year and a half. This is my first vehicle with a matte finish and it hasn't been bad to care for at all.

The matte finish is a little harder to take care of than the shinier finishes. You definitely do not want to use wax or polish on it. You also need to be careful of what kind of detergent you use on it. There are several brands of matte finish cleaner on the market but what I use is a non ammonia glass cleaner. Be sure that you use one that has no ammonia. I use a brand called Sprayway that I buy at Costco. The Harley Davidson dealerships also have a matte finish cleaner that works well, I don't remember the name of it but I was happy with the results when I used it.

My bike is a 2015 matte silver about 15 months old with 25,000 miles and I am happy with how the finish is holding up.

Good luck

I use Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Detailer and Spray Sealant and have been extremely happy with it. I purchased a spray bottle of it and also a gallon and refill the spray bottle when needed.

Guess mine is filthy compared to others. Had it since November, over 14,000 miles and I haven't washed it yet. Spray a bit of windex on a paper towel and wipe her down. It's all I've done since day one.

I really appreciate your responses. Looking forward to "pulling the trigger" on a new F6B soon!

I use the expensive stuff, a micro fiber towel soaked with water and rung out and a second micro fiber towel dry to take off the moisture. MY 2015 matte silver deluxe looks as good today as it did when I bought it in March of last year. Never a drop of detergent, soap of any kind, windex, or anything else ever use on it.

I'm blessed to also have a HD Streetglide in matte paint.
I use Windex to keep it looking good. Everything else I've tried makes it shiney, not matte.

I have a 2016 Matte finish. I called Mequiar's for their recommendations. I use the Ultimate Quick Detailer for everyday cleaning and the Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner when she is really to dirty for just a Quick Detailer Spray. So far the matte finish is doing just fine. Beware of any product containing wax as it could put a high gloss on your paint finish. Good luck.

Rat wax is a great product for matte finishes. I have two matte bikes currently and love this stuff! 100% maintains the matte appearance....no shine.

I use the rat wax on my matte silver and my matte blue Harley! Love it. and DO NOT USE DAWN! it is to acidic(ph) and will eventually eat your paint!

I Liquid Glass the shit out of my matte white 2016. I like how she sparkles just a little when I'm done.
