Steve,
Thats the same one I bought and its been great.
I didn't care for the velcro at all as it made taking the gps off and on a little difficult and it was not as solid as I would have liked.

I modified mine and its 100% better now, very easy to use and very secure when attached.
Check out my pics on post #9 and #10 on the link below.

Got my Zumo model shade from Touratech. Not quite as large as yours but still allows me to stow the unit and the connected shade in the locked front cubby when not in use.

I expect the larger model such as yours will provide better coverage from all angles but your 6.

Question: with your shade what do you set your Zumo contrast to?

I was not extremely happy with the GL version. I did use some Gorilla Tape and made myself happy. This unit is just a little,( 18-3/6 ) to big. I made

it work. The sun down here is tough!... I had one of my last Zumo but sold it with the unit. I don't seem to need one on the 550, although I am sure it would be beneficial.

Sun shade is a must. The problem is very little contrast, at least on Garmin gps. Roads are whittish/gray, and background is light gray. So what I do is set the GPS display for night and make sure the brightness is at 100%. Now the roads are white on a black background and is much easier to see. :icon_wink:
