Still researching these things and tyrying to see if I really want one. They're legal now in Maryland. And they appear to absorb deer strikes fairly well. :icon_cool:

Sorry guys but these things have to be one of the stupidest toys ever made! Chevy Cobalt with one drive wheel and an open cockpit = dumb. Would like to know the outcome of this video as it don't look good right at the end.

I sat in one several weeks ago, up at Pete's Cycle in Baltimore. Couldn't take it out for a test drive because some damned kid stole the gas cap and it would throw codes if run that way.

I like them. They are unique.

I was told that they are uncomfortably hot to ride during the summer. The story mentioned the engine heat would creep into the passenger area.

I also thought they would be a pretty cool ride. A buddy and I went and tested one and it was hot, loud, and very uncomfortable. Performance was not near what I expected.
I'll pass.

Yes, a test ride is definitely something I would want to do... if I was to seriously contemplate on getting one.

I test road a Canam Spyder years ago and couldn't wait to get that thing back to the dealer.

Read my sig, fear of fire or burning down my house was the primary reason for the lawyer and my Can Am Spyder adventure! When the 2014 replacement started having issues with the auto-trans it was time to get away from the brand.

The price point is fantastic on the Slingshot ... The rear just doesn't look finished.

The Morgan is a nice 3 wheeler also, my choice as many of you know is the Kawasaki 1200cc powered Campagna T-Rex's built from 2003 - 2006. OVER-priced for what you get, however it's a lot of fun. I have owned 3 and my favorite was the early 2005 model. I also hit a large raccoon riding the T-Rex, killed it and it cracked a portion of the nose fiberglass.

If you are interested in a 3 wheeler ... you can pick up a low mile 2003-2006 T-Rex for around $30K-$36K, slightly more $$$ then a Slingshot, but a lot more fun and a beautifully designed machine.

I do see these slingshots everywhere, they are definitely popular. I have also owned a the Can Am Spyder RTS. The Can-Am also generated a lot of heat around my legs and feet. You could hear the gasoline gurgling inside the fuel tank at times from the excessive heat.

Corbin makes rear bags for the slingshot that finish it off and add valuable storage. If you don't think they are fast enough just try one with the turbo kit. Still less than a T-Rex. These things are a blast to drive. Big kids go-kart. I took one to lunch and parked next to a really nice Aston Martin. Nobody even looked at the guys car. He was so pissed he wanted to race. Ha Ha. $25K will make you a star. They also make heat mitigation kits for them and have baker wings to bring in air, etc. You can rent them in lots of locations.2416024161

I was intrigued about the mention of Corbin saddlebags for this thing. Had to go look. I knew they were going to be pricey (Corbin really thinks alot about their stuff :icon_lol: ) and as expected  ,,,,

Aye Carumba! Sorry, this thing will be targeted by the CPSC sooner or later. It is a three-wheeled car that is unstable in emergency maneuvers and does not have any of the safety equipment required for automobiles. I think motorcycles are safer. I would rather have my bike while attempting that pylon course than that Slingshot. Or, my Chevy Cruze with or without stability control.

There is a simple Plexy glass shield that is placed between the engine and passengers .... Eliminates heat problem instantly
Yes, your head is in front of the engine, naturally it is loud. Most owners have a bag of ear plugs in the saddlebag for themselves and passengers. Riding behind a loud Harley might be worse.
If you are over 6 feet tall and both you and your passenger are over 220 lbs, it is very tight quarters.
Performance, depends on the year of the T-Rex and driver. I have out run the 1400's with the 1200's and can break lose the rear tire from a stand still every time.

All in all a fun vehicle.

Someone one the Internet described it as a grown man's "go-cart". And we all know that go carts are fun. :icon_wink:

I am amazed at the amount of aftermarket stuff that is available for the Slingshot. You can seriously sink a lot more money into this thing after the fact. Turbo kits, the aforementioned Corbin bags, sweet sounding aftermarket exhaust systems, seating compartment enclosures, etc, etc...

I had wanted to get down to Falls Church yesterday (Coleman Powersports) to test drive one...but couldn't get away due to a family obligation.
