Well written by his speech makers and presented nicely by his ability to keep a straight face while "lying through his teeth"...I am sure he is a nice man and such, but "thank God" he is almost done ruining America!!!...No President is perfect and some are just not much good, but this liberal, left-wing, socialist "jerk" did nothing in his 8 years to make our country better and only served to better himself and his personal agenda.....Not sure what Trump will do, but I hope and pray he does a much improved job of serving this country and its people than Obama did, which was nothing!!!!!

He's not.

I was interested in his farewell speech as much as I watch celebrity awards. Which I don't watch at all.

What I do want to watch is the Presidential inauguration; when Trump is sworn in. Obama should not attend. Because goodby means GOODBY. :039:

He was elected TWICE to the highest position in the country by our country
He is an amazing father, husband, orator, who does love the country and did his best to lift up as many Americans as he could
He shattered the glass ceiling as our first president of color and set a very important precedent for other persons of color
unemployment is very low
stock market is WAY UP
gas prices - meh - stable
navigated and survived the worst recession and the huge wall street and bank scandals.
Real estate prices are steady and growing again
He would have made huge strides in improving infrastructure had his opposition gotten on board
he did something none of us have done - rose from the bottom of politics to the top - how many of us can say that?
Say what you will - He is a brilliant human being:clap2:
I will offer Mr. Trump the same praise if he can earn it after his term in office.

Well, I have to say is that "don't let the door hit him, where the good lord split him"

For the first time in my life, I was embarrassed to be an American; while he was in office. On overseas vacations that I took a few times, me and my wife took great care to conceal our national identities; after overhearing critical conversations from other nationals concerning our country and their opinion of it.

1. He didn’t heal our racial divisions. He actually worsened them. He had the best chance of all recent Presidents to improve them, and he fuc$ing BLEW IT with his irresponsible and untimely remarks.
2. Obamacare is a boondoggle. More Americans have been hurt by it, than helped. Promises were broken to the American people from his introduction of it.
3. The stimulus didn’t stimulate. Hundreds of billions of dollars were voted for "shovel ready" projects and the money disappeared without a trace
4. Obama failed to reform immigration. He hasn’t cracked down on illegal immigration, he hasn’t legalized it, and he hasn’t forged any kind of compromise or consensus on the issue. Nobody is happy and nothing has been accomplished.
5. He withdrew prematurely from Iraq. ISIL resulted from that.
6. He has made America irrelevant. No U.S. President in history has made such an overt show of self admonishment and apologetic behavior on the International stage. Our country is ridiculed in many nations because of that.
7. He is an narcissist. He has been abnormally preoccupied with leaving "a Legacy"

Obama was originally elected on the basis of celebrity, on vague slogans about “hope and change,” on a sense of self-congratulatory smugness about how progressive and enlightened we would all be if we voted for him.

I dare say, that I will walk a little taller and much more proud; once Trump takes the helm of leadership for our country. He wasn't the best choice, but was a hands down choice for me; compared to that evil, crooked, angry bitch whom wanted to continue to drive our country into a failed and weakened state.

The litmus test for a divided country is in these pages....
We have most posters either feel VERY strongly one way, or VERY strongly the other.
Very little in between.

I'm sure a professional statistician would rule this particular cross section of America as not exactly statistically representative of America for several reasons.
HOWEVER, it is a valid statistical sampling of this microcosm which IS our world here as a Group.
The division is strong and seemingly defendable by each side.

Our country is divided into 2 completely different ideologies.
I'll not delve - y'all know the issues.
Race, creed, & color seem to span both sides.

But right now, this country is hurting badly - whatever the cause.
Follow the money......
We are reportedly almost $20trillion in debt and that is just the debt, it doesn't count the interest due which brings the total to almost $80trillion. Yes. $80TRL needs to be paid back.
And how is that ever going to happen? On the backs of the taxpayers. And who might they be?
The jobless rate that everyone seems to quote 4-5-6% does NOT include those people who have stopped looking for work. The real number of unemployed people is near 10% of those so able.
In this table, U3 is the "official government unemployment rate - but looking at all the classifications, you can see how the numbers are massaged. And that's assuming these numbers are not "fudged" somewhere else.
https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm

The taxpayer base is dwindling...
The fiscal stress funding the "social programs" is increasing as more people are allowed into the country and are not in the tax payer base...
And? It's not showing any signs of turning soon.

America's Federal government is hurting.
America's Federal government cannot survive economically like this - our own households would have fallen apart a long time ago had we run up that kind of debt.
The Government has failed the American citizens for years, taking us off the gold standard, making Social Security part of the "General Fund", borrowing money with no plan to pay it back, and the other branches just sit there and stare while havoc is wreaked by Legislative, approved by the Administrative and condoned by the Judicial.

More coffee....

The term "ugly Americans" has been around a very long time - mostly because Americans don't like to learn other languages and cultures.

1. He didn’t heal our racial divisions. He actually worsened them. He had the best chane of all recent Presidents to improve them, and he fucking BLEW IT with his irresponsible and untimely remarks.

A) - ok - you have to get more specific than just your "feelings" data to back that up?

2. Obamacare is a boondoggle. More Americans have been hurt by it, than helped. Promises were broken to the American people from his introduction of it.

B) agree

3. The stimulus didn’t stimulate. Hundreds of billions of dollars were voted for "shovel ready" projects and the money disappeared without a trace

C) disagree - unemployment is way down

4. Obama failed to reform immigration. He hasn’t cracked down on illegal immigration, he hasn’t legalized it, and he hasn’t forged any kind of compromise or consensus on the issue. Nobody is happy and nothing has been accomplished.

D) republicans failed to bring an immigration package / bill to the floor (refused)

5. He withdrew prematurely from Iraq. ISIL resulted from that.

E) disagree

6. He has made America irrelevant. No U.S. President in history has made such an overt show of self admonishment and apologetic behavior on the International stage. Our country is ridiculed in many nations because of that.

F) disagree

7. He is an narcissist. He has been abnormally preoccupied with leaving "a Legacy"

G) you need to understand the DSMV IV manual for mental illness before you try to equate him with a narcissist.

Obama was originally elected on the basis of celebrity, on vague slogans about “hope and change,” on a sense of self-congratulatory smugness about how progressive and enlightened we would all be if we voted for him.

H) yes, just like Mr. Trump and all other politicians.

I dare say, that I will walk a little taller and much more proud; once Trump takes the helm of leadership for our country. He wasn't the best choice, but was a hands down choice for me; compared to that evil, crooked, angry bitch whom wanted to continue to drive our country into a failed and weakened state.

I) your feelings do not equate to facts - they are emotions. But they are YOUR emotions.

You are incredibly delusional. Mind shattering delusional.

-Obanination Care is a disaster. Skyrocketing costs, insurances companies dropping out all over the country. It is collapsing under its own weight . Obomination lied through his teeth about it.

-Worst racial separation since the 60s

-Increased our debt more than all presidents combined

-Lowest labor participation since the 70s

-Lowest home ownership in 51 years

-12 million MORE american on food stamps since the obomination was elected

-Dozens and dozens more

He will go down as the worst president in history.

He was elected because of racism. Many supported him because he is black - that is the definition of racism. Many supported him because of his lying promises of "free stuff." Many supported him because the grew up learning to be dependent on government. the rest supported him because of their inability to think for themselves and research and learn. The same "qualities" are multiplied for Hilderbeast supporters. His elections were an embarrassment of epic proportions. The best explanation that I have heard is the he was America's sympathy fuck.

Very well said. Productive discourse is completely impossible when polite, well-intentioned discussion is replaced by divisive, offensive and oftentimes outright abusive language. This, I believe, is why we elect representatives - local, state and federal. We trust that they will engage in polite, well-intentioned, and productive discussion on our behalves. Sometimes, even that trust is sorely misplaced. That said, even as a regular lurker I do enjoy reading these interchanges.

Sure, this forum is a melting pot of sorts. Also, it seems to me that usually those with the most extreme views are inclined to mix it up publicly within any group, so the sampling may be a tad skewed. I'd like to think the entire spectrum is represented here, with the middle abstaining from these discussions. FWIW, I like to mix it up a little too sometimes, but normally just at home or in the voting booth. Or over a nice seafood lunch with friends...

I disagree with your assertion that this forum in a melting pot. I think you will find that motorcyclists, as a whole, are far more pro-freedom than liberal. I don't think you will find lots of Hilderbeast voters. Is that divisive, offensive and abusive??

The assertion was made, more or less, prior to my post. At least I believe it was. I know enough motorcyclists to know that plenty of them are middle of the road, politically speaking. I do not believe that 'pro-freedom 'conflicts with 'liberal'. This would be devisive. I personally find the term 'Hilderbeast' to be offensive. To me, for me. Not saying you should not use it, just saying. Calling someone delusional because you don't like what they write, even if you know better, is abusive. To me, for me. All of it detracts from whatever point you are trying to make.

A foreign diplomat made the comment that the American Government will work fine until the people figure out they are being bribed with their own money.

That has happened and everybody wants their share of the pie---some want a bigger piece--others are asked to provide them with it.

Was Robin Hood a hero or a thief???????????? It depends on if he was helping you are hurting you.

I have heard the quote "Share the wealth" and I have also heard the quote "Share my work ethic".

Many years ago, politicians were called public servants and they worked for the people. The roles have now seem to have changed--people are the servants and they work for the politicians.

Call it age ... but I have come to the realisation that no matter how disgusted I become with politicians ... I just have to focus on my life and do what's best for my family.

I vote for politicians with real world experience, I once had an argument with a college professor that criticised my way of applying my "on the field" experience towards my classroom assignments, some of my knowledge was based on real world experience not what a book said was supposed to work.

I flat out told him that the reason why he was a professor was because he would've failed in the real world as a businessman. Books smarts/ fantasies .... don't always match reality.

Dang, Phantom. Thou art wise. Surely your professor was given pause to consider his place in the universe, if not in class then later on. Too funny.

I agree for the most part with your assessment of politicians. I have only known one personally, and found him to be fair, honest, and level-headed. Maybe it is only because I agreed with him for the most part. I voted for Mr. Trump in the hope that he would be less AFFECTED by past ways of doing things, and therefore more EFFECTIVE as a leader. I have seen nothing, save a few ill conceived comments on twitter, to make me think he won't do just that. His experience is entirely from living his life in business, not politics.

Late last year, I entertained and old friend and his wife. In conversation after dinner, he began to wonder whether I was leaning right enough. So he asked if I believed there should be a massive wealth re-distribution. I told him yes, to be certain. I believe that far too few hold far too much wealth, and that the solution seemed clear to me. Simple, really. I believe each person in the country should wake up, face the provider in the mirror, and go out and make a million bucks. Or at least try. Utilize skill, hard work and perseverance. Now THIS would re-distribute a bunch of wealth. He laughed, thank goodness.

Ironically, I was bored in that class and was failing it due to lack of interest and learning much more in the field than in class. My professor was going to give me a token "C" because I deviated from his curriculum, I disagreed with him and felt that I truly deserved an "A". In order for that to happen the professor gave me a ultimatum . My last assignment had to impress the class and he would allow the class to give me my final grade. Its a long story but I succeeded in getting my "A" I had to do things that I had never done before and it worked.

I ended up doing O.K. in life.

Here's the federal week in review:
1. Trump fires all Ambassadors and Special Envoys, ordering them out by inauguration day. No exceptions.
2. House brings back the Holman rule allowing them to reduce an individual civil service, SES positions, or political appointee's salary to $1, effectively firing them by amendment to any piece of legislation. We now know why they wanted names and positions of people in Energy and State.
3. Senate schedules 6 simultaneous hearings on cabinet nominees and triple-books those hearings with Trump's first press conference in months and an ACA budget vote, effectively preventing any concentrated coverage or protest.
4. House GOP expressly forbids the Congressional Budget Office from reporting or tracking ANY costs related to the repeal of the ACA.
5. Trump continues to throw the intelligence community under the bus to protect Putin, despite the growing mountain of evidence that the Russians deliberately interfered in our election.
6. Trump breaks a central campaign promise to make Mexico pay for the wall by asking Congress (in other words, us, the taxpayers) to pay for it.
7. Trump threatens Toyota over a new plant that was never coming to the US nor will take jobs out of the US.
8. House passes the REINS act, giving them veto power over any rules enacted by any federal agency or department--for example, FDA or EPA bans a drug or pesticide, Congress can overrule based on lobbyists not science. Don't like that endangered species designation, Congress kills it.
9. Fired top administrators of the National Nuclear Safety Agency. There are no replacements named, and they'd need Senate confirmation anyway. Those two managed our active arsenal of nuclear weapons.
Each of these was fact checked - your welcome to fact check again - in fact I encourage it as long as FOX news is not your fact based source.:yikes:

Trump has done more to help this Country in his few weeks as President Elect than the Obamination has accomplished in 8 years.

I like catfish, is that seafood? Oops....sorry OP I did watch the speech a bit but I think I heard gunfire outside and turned it off. No hijack intended.

Catfish is seafood, damnit. So are hushpuppies. So is Thousand Island Dressing. Not a hijack, but a clarification.

Why do they call them hushpuppies? Do you toss them to a barking dog; and it gets quiet?

In North Carolina it is

1-Beer
2-Grease
3-Bar-B-Que

In that order of importance.

That, and being America's greatest gun salesman is his only good accomplishments! His list of failures is loooooooooooong.

I LOVE the sound of liberals shaking in their boots and I oil my guns with the liberal tears!!

I) your feelings do not equate to facts - they are emotions. But they are YOUR emotions.

These all seem to be facts to me ,not feelings

The are facts. One primary, defining characteristic of liberals is an inability to distinguish between fact, fiction and emotion. If they understood the facts of the matter, they would become conservatives.

Talking to most Democrats about anything is like talking to a wall...No response as they usually don't have an honest response with any "true facts"..just useless opinions!!!
