TPMS question, Steelmate vs others

I finally installed the Steelmate TPMS on my F6B and am happy with the system BUT !!!! I can not use the system to check PSI before a ride as they stay in memory mode until you ride the bike over 15mph to reset.

I rolled into the garage late yesterday. Ambient temp 60 and sunny. Readings were...

front PSI at 44 and temp at 63deg
rear PSI at 48 and temp at 81deg


Down to the garage this morning at 6am Ambient temp 36deg and the TPMS was still holding the last readings from my last ride.
A short 1/2 mile ride reset the TPMS and it reset at

front PSI at 38 and rear PSI at 42 at 37deg.

Is this just with the Steelmate System or does FOBO (or others ) work the same way ????

FOBO refreshes about every minute regardless of wheels turning or not.

On the plus side... your Steelmate sensor batteries should last longer, since they are not transmitting unless the bike is in motion.

IF I had a smart phone I would have gone that route, but my trusty ole flip phone won't cut it with the FOBO. Thanks

Yup,,, this is true. At least with the T valve stem I can still get down and manually check the PSI before a ride.

My rear sensor will sometimes start to re-register as soon as I back my bike out of the shed. the front center takes a little bit longer to register once I start riding down the street. But depending on the same ambient temperature in the morning; the sensors are always dead on with the previous mornings cold PSI readings.

The Garmin sensors read as soon as the wheels move so I make it a habit to check it after I back it out of the garage. The Garmin sensors are so fast that I use them to add air to the tires and I don't have T stems. I just unscrew them and add air and screw them back on then the reading is instant.

I guess if it was a big deal I could just start the bike and drop it in gear while on the center stand (it is always parked that way anyway) and spin the rear to reset before I ride away. Although not a smart way to check tire PSI ;) ;)
