SpeedyWho, yeah 100 miles on average, sometimes 125-150 miles, you get the feel for it, the primary reason is to stay alert and hydrated, the overall time is secondary to your safety always.
Gas mileage (32-36 mpg) has not been an issue yet going across the USA, with a little planning you can make it comfortable, and always have spare in your tank for the unforeseen.

Taking the Mercurial Mechanism out for her first long distance run this Wednesday. From Houston to St. Pete's Beach, Florida, by way of Daytona Beach. 1127 miles to get there, and 1013 miles back home next week. I took "Mercury" on a short 360 miles trip to Mexico a few weeks ago. I think I've got everything setup like I want it for a longer trip now.. Should be about 12 hours the first day and then 4 hours to daytona bike week, where I get to spend 2-3 hours maybe, then ride another 3-4 hours to The Tampa area.

I just sent you a text Sam. You have a pretty ambitious plan going by the Daytona Bike week on the way down. It is very busy that way. Safe Travels.

This thread is a little long in the tooth but......I think it would be fun to plan out an Iron Butt ride and give it a shot. I think the longest day I've done was 640 miles and still felt good after the ride so maybe it would work.
