We have had several people volunteer to lead rides. We will post the additional rides next Monday. These additional escorted rides will all be limited to between 6 and 10 bikes. Signups for all rides will be when you get to Cortez.
I'm trying to figure out a way to meet you all in Cortez. The dragon has 53,000 miles on it and it would kinda be easy to get there from SoCal. Anyone else riding in from Southern California?
yes I am coming from the Fresno area. I will be leaving at midnight from Tulare will be in Barstow about five in the morning heading out Interstate 40 that will be on the august 22
Thanks to AZ Wingrider for letting me know that I had a mistake in my Lake City Ride. Sorry. I would have updated it earlier (it is now updated on the Cortez thread) but I was out on a trip and just got home last evening. In plotting my Lake City RTE ride I had stopped at Creede vs Lake City, so this changes that ride a lot and therefore it is probably too long of a day for most folks (but it would be a good Butt-Kicker/Taste of Colorado Ride). Maybe folks can hit it on the way to or from Cortez.
Update:
(1a) Lake City RTE -- Cortez > Durango > Pagosa Springs > Wolf Creek Pass > South ForK > Creede > Rio Grande River Valley > North Clear Creek Falls > Spring Creek Pass > Slumgullion Pass > Lake City (for lunch ) > Return in reverse direction (like a whole different ride/perspective) 436 miles
(1b) Lake City Loop (aka Taste of Colorado) -- Cortez > Rico > Telluride area > Dallas Divide > Ridgeway > Montrose > Blue Mesa Reservoir > Lake City > Slumgullion Pass > Spring Creek Pass > North Clear Creek Falls > Rio Grande River Valley > Creede > South Fork > Wolf Creek Pass > Pagosa Springs > Durango > Cortez (453 miles) [if via Million Dollar Highway, Silverton, Ouray would be 470 miles]
F6bster has chosen some really great routes and I think the Lake City Rte is still a good ride for the rally. Leave early and limit the stops and it works for most riders. This is a fantastic road and one of the most beautiful rides in Colorado. Creede, North Clear Creek Falls, Slumgullion Pass and Lake City are all very unique and worth a little extra effort.
For those of you that haven't ridden The San Juan Mountains before these are some of the greatest motorcycle roads in the country. The distances are greater than other parts of the country but the country is so wide open and beautiful that you never want to stop riding.
Just my opinion but you will never forget these rides.

New updated information has been posted at beginning of this thread.
Thanks, Rick. Are the .gpx files ready for these trips? My old Zumo 550 has been acting up lately, and while I think I have it sorted out, I ordered a new 595 yesterday, and will have that mounted. Garmin doesn't publicize it, but they give a 30% discount to current owners of older devices, and I couldn't pass that up.
It looks like I'll be in Cortez Monday night, trailering in from Texas, and I'm going to pre run my route on Tuesday, just so I have it familiar. Wednesday, I'll do one of the others, so if anyone is in Cortez early, and wants to ride, I'll be at the Super 8; look for a white B and a white Toyota Tundra.
If anyone coming in from the east on Wednesday would like to get together in the Colorado Springs area Wednesday morning to ride down to Cortez together, just let me know. I could also meet you along the route, say in Poncha Springs near Salida, if you wish.
Colorado Springs > Woodland Park > Hartsel > Buena Vista > Poncha Springs > Monarch Pass > Gunnison > Blue Mesa Reservoir > Lake City > Rio Grande River Valley > Creede > South Fork > Wolf Creek Pass > Pagosa Springs > Durango > Cortez ~435 miles
Is a great ride. Just post here if you want to join in.
Ill be coming in from Goodland, KS that day and our routes would intersect at South Fork on 160. Be too great of distances to coordinate a meet at South Fork but I'll keep an eye out for any F6B's to ride with the rest of the way into Cortez.
