Came from a 99 Valkyrie Interstate. Agreed - the technology improvements of the F6B make for a better bike. Miss the Valk, but love the F6B. BTW, triked the Valkyrie and ruined a nice bike. Power loss was a huge disappointment and milage dropped to high 20's and low 30's. :icon_frown:
2006 VTX 1300C. Candy orange.
I am considering a 2015 R1200RT/K1600GT myself. Rode a F6B last week and it just didn't grab me to buy it. Wind buffeting was horrible over 50mph and the seat didn't suit me. Power was great, ride was very comfortable on bumpy streets, handled fine but felt like I was on a boat compared to my HD Super Glide Custom. What is all the talk about the F6B paint jobs?
What did you like/Dislike about the R1200 you owned? Other than how much they cost to buy? Are they reliable? Plan on test riding the BMW bikes this week. I would buy a ST1300 if they weren't $15,000 FOR A LEFTOVER 2012. Southern Honda won't come off the price on them! Also I want to test a 2015 FJR1200A, new $13,500 plus tax, tag, title but my local dealer will not let me test ride it.
Hope everyone doesn't mind me asking all this...

Most recently sold the VN2000 and a Hayabusa to buy the F6B.
No regrets. Very nice bike, but I also loved them all.
Different strokes for different folks. I like trying new things.
If I haven't owned it, I've probably ridden it. Between me and my father's collection, which I also ride, there's not much I haven't test ridden.

Now I own 2013 F6B,2010 Dyna Wide Glide and a Honda CTX700N...
Owned lots of dirt bikes,Quads and sandrail too..
Had many over 40 years of riding. Can't remember all their years though.
'73 Honda 500/4, Suzuki TS185, Yamaha IT250, 3 x Yamaha RD250, RD350, '81 Suzuki GS650, 73 Kawasaki GT750
Yamaha XT200, Honda CX500, Suzuki GS850, BMW R100R, VL800 (M50), Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600, 2013 Honda F6B.
At the time I had them I loved them all except the R100R. It was a huge disappointment. My expectations may have been too high. I had lusted after a BMW since I was a kid. Eventually got one and was hoping for big things from it. Didn't ever really enjoy it. Kept it for 5 years because of economics. I first saw pictures of the F6B before it was released, on another bike forum. I said then that I would have one the day I could afford it. I did. Love it and will probably retire from riding before it does.:icon_rolleyes:
Had a 2006 Yamaha Roadliner. Thought that was the best bike I ever had until I rode the F6B. Now I have the bike of my dreams and it is sitting in my garage. How lucky am I?

That is an impressive list of Goldwing ownership. Since you are coming from a 2014 GL1800 to the 2015 F6B I have a question that you appear to be well qualified to answer. Was the riding and seating qualities of the F6B great enough to overcome the lack of the reverse gear that is standard on the GL1800?
I am hoping that Honda will release a F6B with the reverse gear and ABS brakes sometime soon, 2016 or 2017. I don't need or even like the looks of a trunk on a motorcycle so for me this is the biggest reason for owning a F6B.
So, what is your reason to switch from a GL1800 to the F6B and your opinion of the two machines.
Thanks,
X
I've only had the F6B for a week, but the difference in the two motorcycles is huge in my opinion. Seating on the Wing was cramped. I had switched to aftermarket Hartco saddles on my prior Wings, but never got around to it on the '14. The stock seat was good for monkey-butt after about an hour.
While the F6B is somewhat lower weight, it is quite apparent and feels like more weight was lost.
I don't ride as many miles or as long each day as I used to, and don't think I will miss the trunk. The days of 3,500 mile trips or 1,000 mile days are behind me. As for reverse, I really never used it much and hope I won't miss it. My F6B does have cruise.
To be honest, I was getting a bit bored with the Wing after so many over the years and was seriously considering a Road King. But I just couldn't come to grips with the vibration of a Harley. They are beautiful art and I understand many love them, but in the end I went with what I know.
I also bought a modular flip front helmet to see if I can make the shorty windscreen work. So far, I am liking that a lot. Need a bluetooth set-up for sound, as I don't want a cord connection.
Hope this answers your questions from my perspective at least.
Hmm... thinking cap is on..
It all started here.
Suzuki RG90 (FAT tyred floater, except in the bottom of a freshly drained dam.... *sigh*)
Honda XL250R (made it myself!, repaired it myself several times, it was a rolling silicone advertisement to prevent oil leaks, I was young, what's a gasket? :icon_redface:)
Yamaha RD250LC ( Couldn't kill this thing, bought it with a failed oil/water seal, removed the yoghurt, replaced the seal and left a trail of two-stroke smoke across the state!)
Suzuki GSX400F (four friggin cylinders!!! The power!.... and a gear indicator, I didn't have to think as hard!)
Yamaha XS1100E (78' model, came with a butt ugly La Parisienne fairing, but it went, well, everywhere)
Yamaha FJ1100 (bought with 98,000k's, I was still young, but crikey this was a powerful toy, young remember?)
Yamaha XS1100RH (it was a like a mechanical Bulldog, shaft drive after the FJ.... I like shaft drive now)
Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000 Mk V ('Reliable and a Moto Guzzi' <- said no-one.... ever! Hmmm why is this stopping? Where's my key!!! o.. down there in the barrel hanging on the loom by the front wheel)
BMW K100RS 1988 (First ABS model.... after the Guzzi, it was a revelation, fill, ride and repeat)
BMW K1 1991 (pwhoar! Lookit I'm Flash Gordon.... with no luggage)
Suzuki GSX400F (2nd one, good little commuter, still not thinking hard)
BMW K100LT 1988 (hit from behind by a mini bus, taking all the hard luggage off with my lower back/legs, that wasn't fun.... )
BMW K1 1992 (yes, another one, see above)
BMW K100RS 1992 (The RS series is still my favourite, this was a cross country stallion baby!)
BMW K1100RS 1996 (it's 100cc bigger, slightly heavier, and well, pretty much the damn same... o well)
Honda ST1100 (Bad accident, smashed my noggin, thank heavens for the BMW systems helmet)
Kawasaki ZX10 (bought as a replacement, clutch hub possessed, squealed more'n a stuck pig under acceleration)
Kawasaki ZZR1100D (Wow.. a great motor, let down my a ghost in the machine which would just stop it, usually in the rain, miles from nowhere with no reception....)
Honda Blackbird (sold because of house deposit, but yeah, these things were awesome I know I never did 305km/h but the speedo showed it......)
Kawasaki GPZ1000RX (backwards step because of above, proof if you're a bike junky that you'll take anything so stop chewing the furniture and fill the shed void)
BMW K1200RS (best one!! had this for nearly 5 years, crossed the country a few times, just loved this thing, after all it's got 'RS' in the designation)
BMW Rockster (nice bike, servo brakes were powerful but whirring at the lights just gave me the irits)
BMW R1200ST (sold because it was a Friday bike built with incorrect valve guide sizes, clattered from new when warm)
BMW K1200R (hey look a BMW with mumbo!, but a gearbox engagement that let the next town you were clunking on in)
BMW R1200GS 2007 (Thought I'd go offroad a bit, we've a sh*tload of 'offroad' over here..... after I swapped the bars it was a nice bike)
BMW K1300R (back to the road, compared to the K12R, a completely different bike, quickshift and fuelling perect but the friggin switch blocks...I mean really, three replaced in a year?)
BMW R1200GS 2008 (flipped that, don't ask.. it hurt.... a lot, lesson learnt? Don't get a flu after you've cracked ribs)
BMW R1200GSA (Great BIG toy... just never felt comfortable after flipping the above)
BMW F800R (great little bike, some vibration above 5000rpm, but a good honest commuter)
Honda Crosstourer VFR1200X (Awesome, awesome motor, although wife needed a step ladder) :yikes:
Honda F6B!! Current!
There were other offroaders as a kid I've not listed, but the major on roads are here, depressingly I realise I could've bought a bike with the stamp duty paid to the government for vehicle transfer. Hmmm.... this was fun.
In Aug 2009 I bought a 08 CBR1000RR. Sold it in December. None til last Saturday.....
My latest before my F6 was this custom Harley Fat Bob.

I just picked up a new 2013 F6B on Thursday and it is pouring rain here in Arkansas :(.
Traded in my Suzuki Marauder VZ800 on the F6B. I have owned an Honda Shadow 700 air cooled & an XL 250 enduro in my younger days.
I was headed for an Indian with my latest purchase until a friend introduced me to the F6B. I told myself not to ride one, but I did, & that's all it took!
It's joggin the ole memory some but heres what I've had over the span. It's sorta in order and I may have forgotten one or two but here goes:
CAN AM 125 (cross)
YAM IT 250 (enduro)
Nighthawk 750 "83?
Yam Virago 700
Pacific Coast 800
BMW K75S ABS
V65 Sabre
Took a couple years off with kids and was not gonna ride BUT then I spotted an old Honda Dream not running and CHEEEP. We had it on the road by that night and I was hooked again.

Old Wing 82? [( I ran this while the beemer was down) pretty dang often]

And now the F6.

My F6B is my 119th bike over 46 years of riding. I have had a bit of everything you can imagine over that time except I have never owned a Harley Davidson, ridden many but never owned one. Attachment 3191My last ride was a 1997 Valkyrie, fully customized with custom old school flame paint job.
Hi all, new F6B owner here (2013 Red deluxe). Very happy with the bike so far. I've had it for about 3 weeks and have riden about 1600 miles.
Previous bikes:
2001 Kawasaki ZX-7R
2002 Honda Sabre 1100
2004 Honda ST1300
1994 Kawasaki ZX600E
1997 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 800
2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300 (still own)
2008 Harley Davidson XL1200L (traded toward the F6B).
I was test riding and considering a new Road Glide or Street Glide over the past few years but wasn't quite happy with either. It took me less than a week from the time I sat on an F6B until I bought one.

1976 Suzuki GS750. I bought it from a friend too afraid of it to enjoy it, in 1978. It had 5000 miles on it. Sold it to buy a computer in 1983, with 50,000 miles. The GS550 in the background was my roommate's. Memories. I really did wear a helmet and gloves almost all the time.
Did not get around to replacing it until April of 2014. Glad I did.

Is a BMW R1150 RT. it's for sale if anyone is interested. Nice bike and I'll miss it but just one bike for me. Had many bikes previous including 2 goldwings - a 1976 and a 1981. Loved them both and it's great to be back on one.
