F6B goes down due to unsafe tires ?

The report didn't say what shape the tire was in. Tread depth. I won't believe anything till I see a report on the actual cause of the accident.
With 2 riders, a sharp object, who knows.
I have had blow outs on rear MC tires, and it was like I was on ice. Very scary.
I don't ride DS but that has to be a bit more or maybe even less dramatic.
Would that wide tire be better or worse in this case?
