They transfer the heat from the grips well. They do take a little longer (1-2 min?) to heat up but once warm I keep them at the same level as before. I have about 12k miles with them so far and they are ready to be replaced.
I prefer these (or Grip Puppies) as well. Transfer heat well and make a world of difference for a comfortable grip. Have them on 3 bikes and they last me 2-3 years. Tip for installation - put a towel or paper towel under the grip area to absorb overspray and then spray the existing grip and the inside of the foam grip liberally with non-aerosol (like a pump bottle) hair spray. They will just slip on. Squeeze the grip with the towel to absorb excess hair spray and let them dry for 20-30 minutes. If you don't have any spray, you can pick up a travel size spray bottle of TREsemme' hair spray (or something similar) for about $1.50 at Walmart or Target or similar stores.
