Read this on Facebook, thought it might be pertinent to this discussion. Happy to hear other perspectives on it, but I'm not interested in an online (or otherwise) pissing competition. So if you have a valuable perspective about this, please feel free to share it.

"I tuned in to Fox News again last to see how their post-Helsinki messaging was evolving. As I settled in, Sean Hannity was the middle of reciting a list of Trump’s accomplishments. As he was wrapping up his list, he concluded, “And he has finally turned the economy around.” With that bizarre declaration about the economy, my mental warning system started screaming and neurotransmitters started showering my brain with bullshit-suppressing facts and information. I work with economic data every day and quickly drowning in so many objections that I simply couldn’t hear anything beyond that “turnaround” claim. Here are some of the objective thoughts that came flooding through my head:

Trump has been in office 17 months and the monthly employment growth over those months has averaged 189,000 jobs. The level of new jobs is well below the 206,000 a month growth during Obama’s last 17 months. No turnaround here.

The quarterly increase in Business Investment under Trump has averaged 4.3 percent growth. However, investment growth in Obama’s last quarter was double that, at 10.8%. No Trump turnaround here.

(The average Business Investment growth for Obama’s full eight-year term was a record setting 26.2%, driven largely by the strong surge in investment early in his first year due to the Great Recession. However, even dropping Obama’s first full year, the average for his remaining seven years was 5.8%--noticeably stronger than Trump’s 4.3% to-date.)

Net Foreign Investment into the U.S. averaged around $400 billion a year for the last two years of the Obama administration, but fell by almost half to around $240 billion in 2017, Trump’s first year. No Trump turnaround here.

Growth in U.S. GDP has averaged 3.1% since Trump has been in office, while the average for Obama’s eight years was 2.6%. This represents an improvement, but hardly a turnaround.

The unemployment rate was 9.1% the month Obama took office and fell steadily to 4.3% in December, 2016, the last full month of his term. In January, 2017 when Trump took office, the unemployment rate was 4.5%, and after 17 months has fallen to 3.7%. The unemployment rates over Trump's term are simply a continuation of a trend that began in Obama’s first year. No Trump turnaround here. (See the attached chart.)

Would any of this, or any other data or information, change Sean Hannity’s mind, or even give him a moment's pause to reflect on the evidence? Yeah, sure. When Hell turns into an igloo. It is possible that on every subject that Sean talks about other than economics, he is truthful, masterful and 100% spot on. I will never know. He is so blatantly, smugly wrong on a subject that I happen know a little something about or at least care enough about to take the time to look up, that I would have to assume he was mistaken if he said the sky is blue."

Anyone with one hand tied behind his back could destroy that nonsense.
O spent trillions on Wall Street and unions were the only ones that had a decent job.
He dumped money into the economy to keep it floating.
They didn't even count those who finally quit looking for work as being unemployed.
A huge number of those jobs were new government employees.
So things are going so well O has to come back and remind us of how well socialism works.
Sometimes what he says is so twisted it takes a while to figure it out.
The only ones who understand him are his minions.
Get used ti it. Trump won. We are winning. And theres gonna be 7 more years of it.
By the time Trump leaves office, all that socialism will be wiped and you minions will have to start all ver again.
I'm done with this thread too. I don't need to defend Him any more. We have Hanity to do it for us.
GOD has Blessed America once again.

PS, sorry for the religious reference, I know it stings.

    We've all been lied too...
    We've all been liars...
Confirmation bias is something that effects all of us unfortunately but if you as an adult can't see that both parties do nothing for the average American then you're a lost cause. Our representatives grift, enrich themselves, friends, and family off the backs of most working people and its been going on for over a century. Banking and big business run the show and if you don't believe that I have some beach front property right here in Severance CO I'd like to sell you. I'm personally not a fan of Trump but I believe there's people in government who've done things a 1000 times worse and frankly should be hanging from trees. He has the whole system against him because they want the scam to continue yet there he stands, president. Say what you want about his tact or personality but there's no denying his success. Owns or is involved in hundreds of companies yet people hang on the 5,10 or 30 failures. Anyone that's been in business would kill for that record. Borrowed millions from daddy yet turned it into billions. I was hoping that he would be a change agent for the bloated carcass known as the Federal Government but unfortunately the swamp is way to deep and enticing.

Bingo and amen...Non-gun toting countries have no idea.

I traveled AU many years and had great debates with the folks down under regarding guns...some pretty strange thoughts came out of those conversations.

Thank you for your contribution, tenxxx. If anyone else has any actual statistical data, directly relevant to the points made in the above post, I would be genuinely interested in as much context as possible. I think the original poster was clear about the direct numerical comparisons between the two Presidents, so it would make sense to answer in kind.

The original poster is Tenxxx. For someone who's not into pissing matches you fingers are still typing. Perhaps start your own thread about subjects copy and pasted off of Facebook to demean a sitting President. It's no secret Facebook suppresses the conservative viewpoint at every chance so why should this guys slant be any more important than anything written on this thread? Who is this financial guru? Name please. Where did he get these numbers? Source please. I call BS on the whole post as any real financial professional would give zero shit about what Sean Hannity says or thinks. This expert is getting pretty worked up over an opinion guy who has less than 3.5million people a night watching in a country of 350 million plus. Now where did that Rachel Maddow financial report go........

I didn’t vote for Obama but it was my duty as citizen to support the office. Trump is our president snow flakes. Support the office or leave. Anyone can twist statistics and stay angry because they didn’t get their way but it takes a patriot and a man to support our country and the office of the POTUS.

While your thinking may serve you well in other countries, the founding fathers had specific ideas when they wrote the constitution for this shining experiment we call the United States of America.

The short little statement contained in the 2nd amendment has had volumes written about it, including by the framers of our constitution. If you take the time to look up the Federalist Papers, specifically #46 and #29 and read them, you would quickly realize the 2nd amendment does not refer to home defense, hunting, or even sporting purposes. No, Hamilton and Madison make it abundantly clear that bearing arms is "the (God given) right of the people" who would ... protect us from national tyranny.

This is what makes us free citizens vs subjects of a government.

Extrapolating further, one could make the argument that law abiding citizens should be allowed weapons equal to the military's ... But that is a discussion for another day.

As always, my apologies to any I may have offended.
