I have over 15,000 miles on mine and love it.
I'm not sure what "upgrade" you did to the center rails and chock, unless it was non-Kendon. I didn't do anything to mine, and it works fine, for both the B and my FJR.

I have a 2003 trailer. Around 2015 Kendon changed the design of the center rails and chock so that front tires would fit between the rails instead of slightly riding up on them. Also lowered the chock for easier in and out and made it adjustable for different wheel sizes. Upgrade is available on Kendon website and is a pretty straightforward installation. I paid about $200 a couple of years ago.

With the ramp down on the dove tail trailer, there's very little chance of bottoming out when riding on, as long as you're fairly level ground. Truck wheels in a low spot makes for a little less angle.
Going up the ramp seems to bother some people. The first time is the worst, after that it's EZ. Helmet on. Start straight & get up enough steam to get you, up the ramp & onto the flat part of the bed, done deal. I'm 76yo & do it, I know you can. "Back in the day" we would ride our dirt bikes up a 2x10 into a 3/4T. P/U truck bed.

I paid too much for mine to be hauling it in the open. I did it with other bikes in the rain and what mess.
I could hear my tires kicking up stones and hitting the trailer.
My v nose doubles as a camper when the bikes not in there (5x8) weights the same as the bike. 1700 total.
    I pull it with a v6 Toyota.
    JUST MY 2 cents worth.
    ITS ALL GOOD

I towed our 2 bikes from central Fl. to Canada & back w/ my '16 Tacoma TRD sport 4x4, 3.5, auto tranny. Nice truck, I like Toyota products. Traded a '14 GMC in on it, lots of software / computer issues, dealer couldn't or wouldn't fix them. Ergonomics were awful.

Anyone tried one of the Baxley trailers? They look pretty good at first glance but don't believe there's much (if any) of a distributor network.

Baxley makes one of the best trailers that can be had.
It makes loading a bike so easy you will think you did something wrong.
    A simple one person operation
Have had one for 10 years and just sold it because it was made for two bikes and
I only travel with one at a time now.
Only draw back is maybe price.

I have to say that is a darn nice looking trailer. I like it a lot... and I think it would outlast me!
That being said... I'm pretty cheap. Yes, the F6B cost a lot used, but I had a cheap HF 4x8 trailer that I abused mightily for 18 years, only having to replace the tires a couple times.
Amortized out, it cost me about $30/yr including the plywood and rails. And yes, I put a lot of miles on it, overloaded it sinfully and loaned it out to those who didn't care for it.
If I had to get a bike trailer now I'd get the same one or the 1800lb capacity one, build another ramp, use a couple boards for the guide and a good front wheel chock.
Yes, yes I know... the china stuff argument. In time that will be a distant memory, like the bad connotation Made in Japan used to have.
Factories build whatever build quality people want.

I agree with your last statement above but would add "....and are willing to pay for".
