To do that type of damage to the front rim of our F6Bs the wheel would be up against the motor with a tweaked frame. Looking at the tire it’s self, just to the right of the bent rim it looks as though the side wall of the tire was cut by the rim edge. I had a friend that hit a deer on a GL1100. He got the bike to a stop without going down. When he went to move the bike to the shoulder he discovered that the handle bars would hardly move. Front wheel was up against the motor.

Looks like very thin hollow metal where the breaking point is. WEAK!!

Looks like a design flaw to me!!

Can't say whether there's a design flaw but I doubt that motorcycle manufacturers have to satisfy FMVSS front-end impact testing as do the auto manufacturers. The picture posted by 53driver is the second front wheel separation we've seen on the new models. Makes me wonder how many we haven't seen. Personally I'm still leery of Honda's new front suspension design, especially the tie rods with the 5mm of allowable play in the bars as specified in the service manual. Hopefully these issues will be worked out in time.
