That's a useful picture! If the OP wants, he could cut the top off the extension, drill 2 new holes and have an almost stock height. Or drill 4 holes if he wants it shorter yet.

I agree with you on that. Unfortunately, I am too impatient to wait. If I can just get it done in 30 minutes and be done, that's what I usually do. To make things worse, I would probably drag it out and make it an hour or more.
