Most people that have issues do not know that both feet must be touching the ground. So, stand bike up straight, push stand down till you feel feet hit the ground, rock side to side to make sure BOTH feet are on the ground, straighten your arms that are holding the rail and bar, stand up! Both of the stands feet must be on ground... you are not lifting, you are standing up on the stand.
