Burks Garden and Big Walkers Lookout

I have plans to make up to the Virginia area soon and want to visit both Burks Garden and Big Walker Lookout. They are very close together as the crow flies but going around not so much. A road does exist between the two #623 and has some hairpin curves and looks to go across a mountain. The road is small and might be some dirt or gravel. My question is it passable, or just see some other great roads and go around?

I've not ridden 623 out of Burkes Garden, but the dual sporters like it. As I understand, it is gravel and has some steep hairpins. Even if you stick to pavement, there isn't really a bad way to get to Big Walker Mountain.

Yea I think I agree with good roads going around. I don't mind a little gravel and dirt but that looks like a lot.
