    Not a V twin guy.

...but if I was, this would be it. Looks like it would run with our 'B's quite well.

I stopped in to the local dealership to take a peek. It's not a bad looking bike in person. The tank is really large, and the fairing is boxy, but it lifts up off the side stand easier than I was expecting, although I don't think it had any fluids in it. The sales guy brought up the performance and I complimented the numbers that it puts up and noted they were higher than the B. Then I smiled and added that all the B's torque is available just off idle, and asked him what kind of warranty the Challenger came with. He took the ribbing well and we both had a laugh.

Also, all these faired motorcycles with two main gauges look like some version of Johnny number 5 from that 80's movie Short Circuit. This one looks like surprised Johnny.

Before my B I had an Indian Scout. Indian makes a hell of a nice engine, that is for sure. That Scout could scoot. The Cheiftain is a very impressive bike, you fall in love just sitting on that thing. I Bet the Challenger is no different, and a direct challenge to the Road Glide, fixed fairing market bagger style. Competition is good for the consumer, bring on the challengers, if you can excuse the pun.

The bike looks great except for that fairing.

Agreed! It looks like an aftermarket faring built by Lego.

I am glad to see a U.S. V-Twin that's water cooled. It's time to move into the 21st Century.

Yes, it's long past the time to switch to liquid cooling. Meeting current emissions standards with an air cooled engine requires too many compromises. I've heard horror stories about rear cylinder heat from late model air cooled V-twins.

As for engine heat, GL1800s handle it better than any bike I've owned. The side radiators do a great job of directing much of the heat away from the rider. With the big front radiator on my Valkyries most of the heat gets dumped on me.

The fairing is ugly. Looks like it was designed by a committee.

I think the fairing is interesting. It is unique and I think I could grow to like it. It looks a bit like the early kz1300 fairing (squarish).

    Check out those speaker grills!!
