Post Adding an additional Rear Brake LED light to F6B.

My main purpose for posting this is to document the wire colors of the Kuryakyn Rear Accessory Wire Adapter P/N 3234. Splicing into the OEM rear wiring makes removing all the rear stuff difficult. By using this adapter you can quickly unplug each wire harness and easily remove the "Rear Combination Light Unit" and the "Rear Fender" from the bike.

The Kuryakyn adapter goes inline of the 6 Pin Honda connector to the Rear Combination Light Unit and has a white "accessory" connector with the colored wires listed below on the left:
    Red--------Running12V--Brown/Wht (Honda)
    Black------Ground-------Green (Honda)
    Blue-------Right Turn----Light Blue (Honda)
    Orange----Left Turn-----Orange (Honda)
    White------Brake 12V---Green/Red (Honda)
(Only 5 wires to the Kuryakyn plug because the Honda 6 pin connectors have two Green/Red wires to power EACH of the TWO brake light bulbs in the Rear Combination Light Unit.)

I removed the White Kuyakyn Connector and used "Solder Seal Wire Butt Connectors" to attach the White and Black wires to my "Swift 3.0 TIR 3 watt 4 LED" light and used "Marine Grade Heat Shrink Tubing" to seal the un-used Red, Blue and Orange wires, leaving them available for future connections. Anyone can Google the "quoted" parts for more information.

If your additional LED light has a "running" wire you could connect it to the RED wire, but I'd leave it off so the additional light only works for braking...When you REALLY want it most.

(If you want to add on any of the Kuyrakyn rear fender LED accessory lighting you could buy a second Kuryakyn Rear accessory Adapter, connect it in series with the first one, and keep the white connector on. A few inches of copper wire won't add much load, especially with LED lights.)

I put the Kuryakyn Adapter behind the Right Turn Indicator ride of the Rear Combination Light Unit and ran the wires down the right side to the Rear Fender.

It's been noted that replacing the rear reflector with an LED light could be a problem because several states require at least one rear reflector. Since that's the rule in Texas, I cut and drilled a metal plate which I mounted behind my License Plate, then I attached the LED light to the plate below the license. I ran the wires through a hole I drilled in the rear fender right between the two bolts that hold the license plate bracket to the Rear Fender.

Lastly...Remember, LED lights are polarized. The positive wire must go to the Kuryakyn WHITE wire and the negative wire to the Kuryakyn BLACK wire or it won't work. No risk of damage if you do it backwards the first time.
