Cooling vests work well with mesh jackets but there is always a catch.
They make you feel cool and wet, like wearing a very wet shirt for too long.
When you get where you're going, your shirt will be wet. Better than plain sweaty, though.
Water tends to drain and dry from shoulders first. I get about 2 hours before cooling effect is lost.
They take about 5 minutes to absorb water, you can't just pour water on them and go.
Soaking them in a truck-stop sink is a bit socially unusual. But, better than heat stroke.
