    Spare Keys

Source for a spare key is Home Depot or Lowe's. Key # Axxess 27R. $2.17 at HD. Key opens all compartment locks and starts bike. Key "will not" lock fork!

Axxess 27R will not start the bike. That's one reason to use it. You can leave it in the bags or glovebox door and not worry.

Just came from my garage where I tried my Axxess 27R and it "in fact" allows the ignition switch to be turned on and my bike to be started. It will not lock the steering stem. The OEM key has blade grooves which are 1.750" long and allows the key to be "pushed deep" into the ignition switch for locking the stem. The Axxess 27R has blade grooves which are only 1.375" long. Although it starts the bike it prevents the 27R from being inserted "deep" into the switch and locking the stem.

Here's a pic of the OEM key and the Axxess 27R for clarity!

    Some clarity on this subject.

    1. If you lock your stem with the OEM key, the 27R will not "unlock it"!

    2. If the stem is in the unlocked position you can use the 27R to activate the ignition and start you bike!

    3. To leave the 27R key in the saddle bag lock for easy access and still protect your bike you must always lock the stem with the
OEM key before leaving your bike unattended.

    2014 F6B Deluxe Keys

FWIW: For my 2014 F6B Deluxe, I got two keys made at Home Depot today using 27R.
    - Yes: they do NOT lock the forks
    - Yes: they will NOT turn my ignition
(validating Gumby's comment, not sure why Bob's work there and mine and Gumby's do not)
    - Yes: they work just fine on the gas, glovebox and trunk locks.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Mine worked to start the engine but would not unlock the forks before I cut them and Gorilla glued them to the knobs. After mounting the keys on radio knobs, they will not fit into the ignition well so I do not worry about someone trying to use the bags, gas door, or console keys to start my F6B.

What knobs did you use? I have two key candidates for those two jobs (gas & console)......

Most use OEM radio knobs. 1st Gen Wing knobs work just as good as 2nd gen for less $$$

OEM radio for console and gas door. Old sterio knob for bags ( thanks again bob109 for the sterio knob. It continues to be a great solution).

    Correct Key Blank

The correct key blank for the F6B and Goldwings is Ilco HD110-P. Most hardware stores can order them or they can be found on ebay.
