Corbin Dual Tourer VS Ultimate Seats Midrider

Just received the Midrider from Ultimate and trying to decide if it's worth the $1K price tag.

I've got 14 days to decide if I like it.

Obviously this is mostly subjective, but here's what I've come up with.

Corbin pros: Looks fantastic. The built in butt/back support is nice and steep. feels good to accelerate.
Corbin Cons: Hard as a rock. The longer the ride, the more your butt hurts. My max was originally 4 hours on the Corbin, but I've built up to 7.
Can't flat foot. The seat is so wide (well the bike is wide too), that my thighs cause my legs to do the splits. I tippy toe at stops. I'm 5' 10" 30 - 31" inseam in my pants.

Ultimate Pros: Cushy comfortable. I come closer to flat-footing. maybe makes a difference of 1/2" to 1" kind of hard to tell.
    looks okay/good.
Ultimate Cons: $1K, the midrider scoots me closer to the handlebars, I feel a bit cramped. Fortunately I have heli-bars, so I'll just have to make some adjustments I guess.
The built in butt/lower back support has less height, and more angle than the Corbin, so I imagine it feels less secure accelerating. (haven't had a chance to fully test this yet)

My bike didn't have the passenger backrest base bracket when I bought it. Does anyone happen to have one they could part with so I can add a passenger backrest?

I think after seeing this in writing, that I'm leaning toward the Ultimate. I do some long runs during the year where I need to be able to do 14 hours in the saddle. I can't imagine the pain of doing that on the Corbin. and I guess even 1/2" closer to flat-footing is at least some improvement. (I could touch just fine on my 99 Valkyrie!) I'm paying a lot of money for that extra 7 hours of seat time and that extra 1/2" of reach!!

Does anyone know of a soft/cushy seat like the Ultimate, that is narrower and/or less expensive?

    Thanks,
    Sam

I have the ultimate king, came on bike. Probably puts me a tad too far back, and I have even added risers. I'm 6'2" and a bigger boy, so by spec it is the correct seat. My comments are, I have never gotten past a 4 hr ride without much back discomfort later. I also have the backrest, it is nice it can move front front to rear, and certainly helps. I have tried many riding positions and I honestly think the King becomes too soft and unsupportive on the longer ride. I guess pick a sore butt or sore back. I never had these issues with previous older Yama venture stock seat.

I see so many people that love this or that seat, I kind of think that our bodies are just different, or our preferences are so different that what's comfortable for one is torture for another. Kind of like wives, I guess. But anyway I keep wondering if maybe the stock seat wouldn't be the perfect seat for me! There's one on ebay, but it's not returnable, so I didn't get it. Sorry to hear the ultimate was too soft for you. Was the yama venture stock seat more firm? If you like firm, I'll make you a good deal on a used Corbin!!! LOL

i have the mid rider ultimate. had it for several years and thousands of miles. Excellent seat for me. I'm 5 feet 11. Have no problems with feet on the ground. Corbins are stiff, but good looking. I suppose they may break in after several thousand miles. But as far as back pain or other muscle soreness, when a rider has a long trip planned, they need to do several rides of at least 3 to 4 hours, to get the body used to the position, before going on a 4 day trip or longer, unless you're in your 20's. I recently turned 70. I am already planning a 10 day ride for the summer. I'll do several all day rides to prep my body for that ride. I have full confidence in the Ultimate seat to deliver me a comfy ride. Now, if you have more $$$, there are some other seat options from specialists, and they do make them very well. They make them, to your specific size. weight, etc.

lol, that's the other end I am looking for. Thankfully, I just joy ride a few hours a day if possible in the state I live. My Yama seat was stock, seemed the seating position plays into it. It was similar feet under, maybe a bit more forward leaning and less folded up. I have considered a stock seat as well, If you lived local I would trade for a couple weeks, shipping costs would be too expensive.

If you're willing to spend 1K then look at the Russell Day Long, it's custom designed for you.
