Don't you need some sort of replacement for the little inserts too?

I think you need the mounting hardware. $$$$
You would need to drill the four holes to mount the rack unless you buy the replacement filler pieces that have the holes drilled already.
Yup.
Kit looks like this:

OR, you can buy these and drill holes in your OEM plates:

Why not the BikeMP3 rack: http://www.bikemp3.com/Touring-Rack-...GW-F6B-TRK.htm ?
Bigger and better
I'm unclear George, does the BikeMP3 include all the hardware needed for a standard installation? If so, it is definitely the way to go. I was just trying to figure out if that ebay auction was a deal. Ultimately, what I'd like is to figure out tie down points so I can sling a bag over the back seat pillion since it won't be put to any other use.
That's a good question; I'm not clear on what hardware the BikeMP3 rack comes with.
I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it as an option. I think this is a fantastic item; the OEM rack is just too tiny IMO.
