The east coast of Australia is 15 hours ahead of us. Been there several times.

To confuse matters, unless Australia participates in daylight savings like us brilliant Americans... the difference will be 15 hours for 6 months of the year, and 14 hours for the other.

It's even more confusing than that. Aus does have Daylight Savings time, but they switch on different dates to the US, and right now Aus has switched to summer time, but the US is still on summer time and won't switch back for a few more weeks. So, although Melbourne (and Sydney) are 15 hours ahead this week, two weeks ago they were only 14 hours, and in a few more weeks, they will be 16 hours ahead. Confused yet :-)
