A lot of folks from Canada have P.O.Boxes here in this country to accomplish this... I have been asked to mark a item used, or rebuilt for some to avoid vat in the UK.

Now if you want to climb on and starting kicking at least wear spurs.....
I generally will buy local or online from some good reliable Canadian sources if available. I do try to support these businesses. On occasion if shipping is too much (from the US)I will have it sent to an address just south of the border and pick it up there. Most of the time I still have to pay taxes when coming back into Canada. Don't think there is anything wrong with that. Sometimes the border officials just wave me thru.

I'm not a tax lawyer, I do know that there is a huge difference between "avoid" and "evade" taxes...one is legal. Sharpton evaded and is a piece of shit for what he has done...re taxes and more. The avoid evade is axiomatic in tax world. As to your comment that " ...and in the same breath kick the USA for not being like their country" that was exactly what I meant by asking if you know something we (or I) don't. If the OP was lauding the virtues of a gun free, socialistic state and then posted what he did, well, that would be hypocritical and your original comment would be totally warranted.

Steve, I accept your apology and couldn't help but wonder what I had said that caused you to be down on Canadians. I lived for 28 years in the US paying my taxes just like you. I even owned a couple of handguns. I retired and came back to Canada to spend time with my aging parents before they passed a few years ago.
Some Americans don't realize how lucky they are. When I returned to my home up here I very soon realized just how much more it costs to exist here. In Ontario sales tax on everything is 13%. We pay $38.00 for a case of beer, $58.00 for a 1.75 Litre bottle of vodka and don't get me started on the price of gas. My insurance for my F6B is $917.00. The list goes on...............
If I spend 48 hours in the US I can bring back $800.00 duty/tax free legally. That's the law. Every one of us likes to save a buck and I'm no exception.
We are both fortunate to live in two of the greatest countries in the world.

I am proud of my uniform and for what it stands for. It stands for the right to stand up for all people, not just americans. I have been assigned to NATO units where I worked side by side with military from other countries and appreciate their help. I'm sure that you don't feel this way but it really bothers me when americans give off the air of being superior to people from other countries. I don't think that we do it intentionally but it is perceived that way. Just my thought for the day.
